fix window plugs in fiberglass door?
Comments (7)They usually come in a bag under a sticker on the glass. Most people push them in to far. You can go back to the supplier and tell them you would like some more because they were put in wrong. To take out the old ones we use a screw in a cordless drill. We turn the screw into the old plug and then ounce it's in we pull it out. After you do it a couple times it will get easy. When installing the new ones use your thumb to start the plug in the hole. Then use a putty knife to finish pushing them in place. Ride the knife edge slowly to match the ridge of the window kit. Take your time and be patient as some of these can get your dander up!!!...See MoreMilgard Fiberglass Windows and Sliding Doors
Comments (2)The Milgard fiberglass products are very good, expensive, but good. You may want to look at Andersen also. I sell both. I've owned Andersens for 14 years - looks and works like new. The Andersens are not cheap either. Andersen has been building windows longer than ANY other window company - over 100 years. They've seen trends come & go like the blinds between the glass thing, etc. They offer solid products with intelligent options....See MoreVinyl Windows and Fiberglass Door Questions
Comments (14)I've obtained quotes from six different vinyl window replacement companies for identical product and they are all within $200 of each other. Kind of disappointed as I thought there would be more variation in pricing. Is it common in the window replacement industry for companies to have such similar pricing? Not sure whether it's worth it to spend $2000 to replace two large living room windows. On a positive note, through talking to six different companies, I have changed my opinion on Low E glass....See MoreHelp, mixing vinyl windows with fiberglass doors? Is that standard?
Comments (6)If you are referring to combining vinyl windows and fiberglass doors its done all the time. Simonton is a good solid product but for replacement I would not consider the ProFinish and step up to the Grand Estates Premier (equivalent to the Simonton Reflections 5500) or the Grand Estates Premium Plus (equivalent to the Simonton Impressions 9800) The ProFinish Line is Simonton's new construction window with catalog sizes its not built at the same quality level of the above listed products. within the ProFinish Line the Brickmould 600 is the best one but again not as good as the above....See MoreSuru
