Can't decide --Sharifa asma, scepter'd isle or jubilee
Comments (6)I have all three. Remember, JC just came out only a year or two ago so it's impossible to talk about long term characteristics. Sharifa - the best scent of the three. Beautiful blooms, but not very many of them, even in the flush, at least for me. Here's Sharifa: http://www.pbase.com/tivoli/image/39312178 I do have some Sharifa's in this link, which shows a good flush, and other images, but I don't think that flush is typical, I think it was a lucky year. http://www.pbase.com/tivoli/austin_english_roses Scepter'd Isle - a myrrh scent, quite nice. A crazy number of blooms during the flush and decent after that. A beautiful, sort of caged framework of canes that are almost always self supporting except maybe from a bad, windy storm and then they prop back up again. I wish I had the time to get an image of the bush, I can't right now. Well, here's two, the bush shot one is the one on the right. Gruss an Achen is the one on the left. Not a great picture, but it gives you some sense. The other image is just a bunch of buds and some new flowers, but look at all the buds and I have more of that type of image with a zillion buds. http://www.pbase.com/tivoli/image/98830392 http://www.pbase.com/tivoli/image/81007052 Jubilee Celebration - I really do love this bloom. It's beautiful and has beautiful, rich color. I don't think it has a strong fragrance. Can't say much else about it, it's too new. Comments (0)This forum is the best!!! We are working on renovating parts of our house, including the kitchen. Right now my brain is fried because all of the bids coming in from contractors are WAY MORE than we can afford! (too long a story to post here) So we're going to have to scale back on our plans. That said, we will definitely be relacing the range that came with our house. It's an older Jenn-Aire dual fuel slide-in that I can't wait to get rid of!! We'll also be replacing an old Amana OTR microwave. I've been looking around and was originally thinking of the GE Cafe (AG or DF). Then I saw the Electrolux line that just came out (also either AG or DF). Lastly, I stopped in a local appliance store last week and they have a couple of floor models at about $400 off retail -- KA Architect II and a GE Profile AG. The floor models have never been hooked up -- only on display. They seem to be in good condition and the store would give a warranty as brand new. Also, I've been researching these models - including searching the posts here - so I'm aware of the many pros and cons of each. Since we're not sure when we're actually going to be doing any real work in the kitchen we're thinking of going ahead and buying a new range now, except I can't decide!!!! Comments (39)Wow, my head is spinning! So many great ideas here. Les, you have such an eye. I've always liked the look of two small cocktail tables; in fact that is what we had in our LR when I grew up and my sister and I used to spend hours coloring and doing homework on them. Those would be fab, but out of my price range at the moment. If I see something similar on CL, the flea market, etc., Lord knows what could happen :) kswl, once again, great minds think alike. I have considered doing pillows, because I know the needlepoint is quite old and has already started fraying in some places, but I guess I'm just not ready to tear into the chair yet. I also can't quite visualize what the chair would look like with "regular" upholstery. Maybe it's because I've been looking at the chair this way for so long. I've seen settees redone and they look lovely, so I'm sure I could find something when the time comes. I have redone the back of the chair already and want to redo it again; it has a jewel tone plaid on it that worked with my old color scheme but not with this one. I think I'm just going to replace it with black; maybe leather, as I know many chairs in that era were done in leather. The back was originally done in a black fabric made to look like it had been stitched, but it was literally falling apart. So the chair will no doubt continue to evolve at some point. Loribee, You have a great idea, but the chinoiserie table is really too big to sit next to the CL chair. But I do have an idea; I think it can go next to the couch, and the bookshelf that is sitting there now can move to where the table had been sitting; just up against a corner wall. I will post some pics later. I do love both tables, and I know they can both find a home in the room. Thanks again all, you have really made me love my LR again!...See Moretqtqtbw
