The crossing is registered as Phalaenopsis Zheng Min Concentric and is probably a "miniature" in that the plant size and bloom size are reduced.

Tell the readers a little more about the conditions where you have the plant and maybe help will arrive.

Not sure about the temperature trigger for blooming some of the miniature Phals.....Most need a slight cool down in Autumn to "decide" to bloom whereas a few bloom in summer and blooms are initiated in spring.

Also, where you are in the world and your fertiliser program might help.

I would contact the vendor and inquire as to how big a leaf span this plant gets.

For what it is worth, what can be seen of the plant looks very healthy.

Thanks Arthur and Paul for your replies. I am living in Germany and we have 4 seasons of the year. Before I bought the seedling, the ebayer informed me that if I have a room temp. of 15 - 20 deg. C, it will be no problem for the orchid. After 1 year, I have repotted the seedling with Seramis special granulated orchid mix, as shown in the picture.

I have this seedling placed in the north-eastern side of my window, where morning sun comes through in the morning and my blinds are nearly drawn down.

I give my orchids regular feed of Rain-mix fertiliser.

That's a beautiful hybrid; I can see why you bought it. I'm not familiar with that potting mix but the plant appears healthy so that's probably not the issue.

This hybrid is predominantly made up of warmth-loving species which are happiest when temperatures are above 25 degrees Celsius year round. These guys will tolerate/survive cooler conditions but growth will slow down or even stop when it gets too cold. I have a P. violacea (one species in your plant's background) which grows fastest during our hot humid summers and then does an excellent plastic plant impression once the temps consistently drop under 20 degrees C. As some of these warmth-loving species are also not particularly fast-growing this stop-start pattern means it'll take a lot longer for a seedling to reach maturity.

If you could consistently provide the warmth and humidity - perhaps via a terrarium under lights with a little fan? - your orchid should grow faster. I'm not familiar with any of these growing methods so can't really help, sorry. Maybe contact a local orchid society in your area?

If it has violacea in the background, it should be bigger after 3 years. I agree with Ephemerati that it needs to be kept at a minimum of 25C during the day. A little cooler at night won't hurt. If your other phals are blooming, I wouldn't think it was a humidity issue. I successfully grow violaceas and their hybrids, my temps range between 27C - 20C when they are indoors. In my experience, violaceas also seem to like a bit more light than most other phals.

So my advice is: A little warmer and brighter.

Can you put it outdoors in the summer?

I grew one in NY and put it outside in summer. I always got blooms.

Its a long time ago but I believe it bloomed in summer. I'd try increasing the light a bit and giving it warm summer days.

Tks Jane for your comment. When you put the seedling outside, do they stay outside overnight as well. I ask because our german weather is very unpredictable. It can be very warm in the day but in the night temp. can take a sudden change and drop to 10 deg. C. We are now in the early spring. Yesterday and today, the temp. is warm 25 deg. C, but last few days was 15 deg. C, rainy and cold. When the warm summer days are over, how do I continue to provide the right temp. for the Phal. 'Joy Musical Notation' indoor?

12-13C is the minimum temp, if it gets below that bring it in until they stay higher or leave them in until temps stay that high.

An east facing location is best for a phal, but west or north can work also,. No direct light between 11:00-16:00. If west exposure, be sure it gets a little shading in the evenings. Ease it into the light over 2-3 weeks or it may sunburn.

Give it the best light possible when indoors, the several months of outdoor light usually helps them to make it through the cold and dark months indoors. You can also consider using artificial supplemental lighting, but that's a whole other discussion.

Summering orchids outside works very well in colder climes, as Jane suggested. You could place it out in a warm, sheltered spot and bring it indoors if the night temps are dropping below 15C degrees. Bob has given good advice to carefully transition the plant as it will need to adjust to higher light levels.

If you decide to try the terrarium setup over the colder months, make sure there's adequate air movement provided by a small fan. Otherwise, small enclosed spaces combined with stagnant air, warmth, and moisture are a recipe for bacterial infections and rot. You've done really well keeping the plant healthy and alive for three years, it'll be very rewarding once it flowers for you! There's a good chance this hybrid will smell wonderful as well. :)
