ooh-lah-lah, Reve d'Or
Comments (7)I will take the pictures, but it may take me awhile to figure out how to post them. Like I said, I'm a show-me kind of person. I am such a dingleberry, I just realized I typed carnation rose, but I meant camelia rose with it's hanging pannicles of little pinky-red roses. I was out looking at it this morning, and it gets even more beautiful to me every day. I didn't used to like the tiny little roses. I was a big, blowsy kind of girl as far as my roses went. It has a very strong fragrance for such a small bloom. Haywood Hall has five huge clusters of buds, and I counted close to 100 buds in each cluster. I've forgotten what this one looks like or why I ordered it (it was probably on sale), so it's going to be a real surprise when it opens. The buds are still very tight, so it will be awhile....See MoreIs this RRD? My Reve d’Or looks odd to me. Thanks
Comments (15)Those 2 close up pics together concern me...that does look like RRD to me, sorry to say. Thanh, I know just how you feel...We have groves and groves of KOs here, pretty much every one of them a dense, infected breeding ground for RRD. I can easily count 100 stands of RRD infected KOs within a 2 mile radius of my house. When 2KO became the new blooming boxwood, individuals , businesses, and the city itself all got into the act of planting the horrible masses, and leaving them infected. The prevailing attitude of neighbors it to let them live and ‘enjoy’ them until they die a natural death, which can take 5-10 years. If I were mayor , I’d pass an ordinance requiring people to remove their RRD infected roses, lol....See MoreReve d’Or is finally in!
Comments (32)I have been trying to find reve d’or for 4 years, and FINALLY found it in stock 2 weeks ago on petals from the past’s website after going through all the website’s including pftpast’s. I just stumbled upon it while looking at Spice Rose in the alphabetical listing. I was spelling it wrong in my original search, so it didn’t come up. (Rev d’or rather than Reve d’or) . By then, though, I had to leave for carpool to pick up the kids from school. i swear i wanted to enter my cc info whike stopped at a red light, but my eyesight is going and I didn’t have my reading glasses. By the time i got home it was out of stock 😩😩😩 Do the rose God’s just not want me to have this rose 😭😭😭...See MoreReve d'Or old tea rose
Comments (21)HAHAHA Bridget I'm terrified of ramblers!! How to keep them from consuming the trees?? I value the trees too much to let them get strangled... I do have some climbers - maybe a dozen - but most of them are what I'd call "mannerly" climbers and I have them trained onto gate arches. I also have a couple of climbers (not ramblers) going up trees, but they haven't gotten far enough up into the canopies yet to really take off. Ok I lied, looking out my window I realize I actually do have a Kew Rambler, planted at the base of an enormous sycamore tree. It's been in the ground for several years but so far has only gotten about 10' tall. I think the sycamore roots must be putting up a good fight for resources! But I take your point - I think I need to get brave and start planting some climbers in random places, where they can toss their lanky canes out in all directions and create a more informal look. (Not that my garden is very formal...this would just be even more informal. My DH likes to practice what he calls "explosive gardening" so if I let the climbers explode in all directions like fireworks, I'll be joining in his pastime!)...See Morebossyvossy
