Yes! Many look alike now.

They do look similar, plus so many of them are designated by letters and/or numbers rather than names so I never remember them.

I really don't like the very angled, outter spacy shaped lines of a lot the new cars right now.

I would get a good laugh when I'd pick up my kids somewhere and see another dark grey sedan and see how long it would take for them to realize there were walking towards the wrong car!!

Something else I've noticed is that car makers make their models almost look the same. Just longer or shorter. The Mercedes C, E and S looked so similar in the front I couldn't tell the difference in the 2000's. (I'm not sure now).

Same with the Nissan, Honda and Toyota. I keep hearing on TV how the Nissan's all have the V motion grill. To me it looks like a U. But hard to tell any difference on the road.

It's true, but I don't long for the cars of my driving youth - late 60s-70s. Quality- and safety- wise, most were crap. If similar looks is the price to pay for the high level of quality, passenger protection, and fuel economy we have to choose from today, we should accept that and be happy how much better off we are.

I am car blind, I can tell the color and the difference between a pickup and a car but that is all.

They all look alike, and it's become harder to find the brand or model on them. A few years ago, my friend bought his first, low-end Mercedes. He was strutting his stuff, thought he was the bee's knees. I looked at it from the back and said "it looks like a Saturn." He was not pleased. :)

Haven't bought a new car in 40 years or so ... and then it was the year before's model, bought the following spring.

I'm mainly interested in how easily the air flows over them, to save gas ... and how much gas they use per hundred miles/kilometres travelled.

I'm a car nut, so have developed lots of skills discerning one brand/model from another, but once minivans and SUV's became so popular, I kinda gave up. Not only are they not attractive or interesting to me, they just all kind of look alike.

A woman parked a Tesla (not common in my town) next to me at the USPS and I had a hard time not gawking at it...so interesting how the doors opened - batwings. But I can honestly say, I'm not sure it would have stood out to me on the highway.

DH saw a tesla here (east coast) with CA plates on it. I can't imagine how painful a drive that must've been if you have to stop ever 250 miles and wait 45min for a recharge!

I agree so many cars look alike, I have to look for an emblem or a model to tell them apart. And there are so many models I've never heard of. You'd think they'd be running out of names by now.

One thing I don't miss about the cars nowadays is the smell. We take our '48 jeep to car shows, and let me tell you, the exhaust gases from the old vehicles were very different and overwhelming than what we have now.

I notice that a lot very expensive sports cars in my area are driven by some pretty old 'boys'. (I don't know where they could go to drive these cars very fast.) Someone near us has a lovely old Rolls. Last week I pulled up behind a *new* Bentley -- ye gods, that must be one *super heavy* car! (Where would you dare park that?)

There are some cars now I mix up because they look so similar. My big problem with the new cars are the lights though. Great for the driver, but they blind me in the oncoming lane. Might be my eyes getting old.

Yes, I do remember the days when brands had certain identifying features. It you were not sure if it was a Ford or Mercury, the hood ornament was a helpful ID. GM, Chrysler, and Ford each had different body creases and profiles. Not so much today. For example, the rear view of several minivans look alike.

What models have hood ornaments today? Those have disappeared on several vehicles. Hood ornaments were largely decorative and did not provide any functionally. Some were removed because those were pedestrian spears. A few years ago, the Dodge pickup sported a brawny Rams head and it became the object of vandalism and theft. Dodge gave up and reduced its trademark to a flattened emblem that hugged the hood and had no profile. Insurance agents gave a sigh of relief.

The Mercedes "hood ornament", a three dimensional, three-spoked star in a circle, was spring-loaded in a gimbal-like mount in the 1980s and maybe earlier so it posed no danger to anyone or anything. Both MBZ and BMW only have flat hood crests now. I don't know what US cars have had over the years, I haven't owned any.

The Tesla-operated supercharging stations are appropriately spaced throughout the cross-country highway system. They're often at hotels and almost always very close to eateries so that a recharge can be done while eating a meal or spending the night. So, it's not so painful.

For someone who often wants to drive 750 or more miles in a day, sharing driving chores while doing major distances, choosing a Tesla is probably a bad decision. Someone wanting to do a more reasonable 500 miles a day and do it for the adventure can easily do so without inconvenience. Most Teslas can also recharge overnight at one of the lower powered commercial charging stations that are all over and that are much more numerous than the numerous-enough Tesla facilities.
