In the Atrium
Comments (23)murraysmom yes it is open at the top, I have a big hole in my roof LOL. We have lots of great big trees all around the house, pines and oaks mostly and they keep dropping down decorations into the Atrium. But it also allows the birds to swoop in and butterflies and even humming birds come in. (I added a new picture showing what I see when I look up) The window with the window box is into my kitchen, the other full length windows look into my dining and living room, my hall, my family room. I was noticing on one of the pictures with the window boxes you can see through that kitchen window through to the window on the opposite side of my kitchen and through it to the window of my RV in the driveway LOL. The long skinny windows that you can see through the Atrium window is my formal living and dining rooms, my little dog loves to lay in those windows and I caught her in one shot. Those windows look out to the front yard and my front bed which is really in need of work right now. I have several things in the Atrium yet to bloom the star gazer lilies are just going crazy I had to put a tomato cage in the big blue planter to contain them. My sweet dreams duranta is bushing out so nicely but wish it would be full of the beautiful blue flowers. the hanging snapdragons seem to be on a strike, they must want feeding. I have some baby roma tomatoes on the one tomato plant by the window boxes the others not yet. My pitiful looking satsuma trees have a lot of itty bitty baby fruit on them if they just keep them this year. The winter here is pretty mild but we do have a few days of freeze so I have a portable green house that I put up in there and put some of the plants in it and some come in the house and others are just covered for those days and nights. This past winter was so mild I only had one or 2 nights to worry about. It didn't even slow down the plant growth like it usually does. We put our Christmas tree out in the Atrium, a real tree and we put lights on it but very few decorations, God does the decorating with pine cones and leaves and what not from above LOL. It is beautiful. I do have a bistro set in there, 2 chairs and a small table so we can sit and have coffee or read. I need to clean up my blue totem it has been out there since I made it and is getting dirty. Happy to share, looking at pretty flowers cheers me up I was hoping to do the same for others. Comments (12)Buehl, Thanks for the comments. And here are some of the answers to your questions: Dinning & Great Room entrance is 4'4'' wide The wall with the window (line A) is 19' Im not sure about the distances between the window. It is a standard window (not sure how wide a standard window is) and it is in the middle of the that wall. Also here is a picture of the left side of the house. To get an idea of the flow. Its a very open concept floor plan. There is a mud hall that I envision we will be using to bring a lot of the groceries in. The best view will be from the Dinette. General Idea of the flow of the house....See MoreResolution to granite mismatch
Comments (26)"Kinda surprised at your granite guys for not coughing if up without the KD getting on them. Sigh..." Probably a very simple case of Short-Sighted Economics. Have one disgruntled customer? No problem. Tell them there's nothing you can do and move on to the next customer, so you can make more profit. There's nothing the customer can do to you at this point, and fixing the issue, even if it is the company's fault, will reduce the profit from the job. Have a disgruntled KD? That's another story. That KD could send you a lot of business, and a lot of business means a lot of profit. So there's a financial incentive to keep the KD happy. What these companies don't realize is that the disgruntled homeowner is now telling all their friends, in real life and online, just how bad the company is and how awful they are at dealing with their own mistakes. For the next 20 years, every time that customer hears of someone redoing their kitchen, they will tell the happy remodelers to avoid that company at all costs....See MoreYellow cabinets Kitchen progress pictures DIY
Comments (29)Hi Florantha! My main concern was how the small tall kitchen just dropped after the end run before the nook, which was bothering my eye. So, I came up with a cheap solution that I think works. As I did not want window treatments I just did a skinny simple moulding piece above the three windows painted the same color as the uppers. Now my eye moves around the room better and the pitched height above is a non issue to me now. That little project took a little longer than I thought but IâÂÂm done. http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af170/jterrilynn/kitchen%20progress%20pictures/?action=viewät=nookandabovewindows011.jpg" target="_blank"> This is the wall IâÂÂm not sure what to do with. It looks into living area. I just stuck one of my unfinished paintings up there for now. I donâÂÂt feel like having my art there so IâÂÂm looking and will know it when I see it. See my little nook husband made? I can now get my tea stuff off the counter (LOVE). http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af170/jterrilynn/kitchen%20progress%20pictures/?action=viewät=nookandabovewindows004.jpg" target="_blank"> http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af170/jterrilynn/kitchen%20progress%20pictures/?action=viewät=nookandabovewindows006.jpg" target="_blank"> We finally finished the peninsula, just needs another coat of paint. I didnâÂÂt want big corbels for supports so we just hollowed out pieces of standard moulding that matched the doors on upper spice pull-outs and angled off at end. I took this picture to show but I was located on the floor. You can not see the under side brackets unless you are on the floor. Cheap and cheerful! http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af170/jterrilynn/kitchen%20progress%20pictures/?action=viewät=countersupportsandboyspicture001.jpg" target="_blank"> http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af170/jterrilynn/kitchen%20progress%20pictures/?action=viewät=countersupportsandboyspicture006.jpg" target="_blank">...See Moresultry_jasmine_nights (Florida-9a-ish)
