Liquid Fence Deer & Rabbit Repellent ?
Comments (14)Sick and tired of deer eating all of the veggies I have worked hard to plant, I am currently experimenting with a few things. I have found the following to be successful: --LiquidFence works, but you have to spray every other day, contrary to the label recommendations. --Expensive cologne/perfume misted lightly over the outer stems also works if you spray every day, but in addition to being expensive, you must mist every day. --I have devised a diabolic concoction that will repel deer and every other form of grazing wildlife, but you must use it only on the leaves and stems of the plant (NOT ON THE FRUIT!!!) Here's the recipe: In a blender, liquefy the following: 2-3 cups water 5-6 fresh Habanero peppers (hottest peppers known to man) 9-10 fresh garlic cloves 1-2 Tbsp vinegar 1 Half cup fish sauce (available at Asian markets - smells horrific!!) After liquefying all ingredients, strain out all pulp from the peppers and garlic, and pour into a spray bottle. Bingo!! Use gloves when spraying on plants -- this mixture is vile, and will cause extreme pain if accidently rubbed into the eyes or mouth. It's nasty stuff, but is guaranteed 100% effective. Application every 3-4 days (or longer) should be sufficient....See MoreDeer/rabbit/squirrel repellent
Comments (4)Dunno....I use it all summer with no problem. They all move along to my neighbors' gardens. (j/k) I have heard but never tested these ideas: string a single clear monofilament --fishing line-- about 3 feet off the ground, around the garden. Deer are apparently freaked out by this 'invisible wall', and won't cross it. 2) surround the garden with a 3 foot wide ring of plain plastic trellis, laid flat on the ground. Deer at least won't cross it, not wanting to chance tangling their hooves in this hazard. Keep us posted if you try these! --Rr...See More'Hinder' repellent for deer, squirrel, rabbits
Comments (0)Since the herd of deer to my backyard have eaten daylilies , roses, & shrubs (butted up to house), I asked the local garden store expert what would get rid of them other than .3006 rifle! His professional nursery growers use a product called Hinder which is a highly capsicum/bad odor spray that you spray 4-5 days straight & they learn not to return. Said most are succesful after 3 days (of course without rain or watering disturbance). It seems to have worked as haven't had any others cropped to the nub since using it. DH has had me spray continuously, because of continued rains here or because he's not convinced that they have visited since I started the program to "learn"!...See MoreSquirrel Repellent
Comments (1)I don't think it would bother them...I sprinkled it over my red beets and it kept a rabbit off of them. So far, they are growing well (they weren't when the rabbit was eating them!)...See Morelinnea56 (zone 5b Chicago)
