Thinking about making kitchen faucets finish change

Is brass here to stay in kitchen faucets or already gone?
Currently I have polished nickel but want to warm up the look of the kitchen. Thanks !!

As far as what's "in" or not, we always advise homeowners (who are not seeking to sell), to follow your heart. Sometimes there is an industry consensus, like this for example. It states that "faucets in matte black, bronze and brushed nickel taking center stage.”
Either way, it's your kitchen - the heart of your home - and you will be the one gathering with friends and family, cooking, sitting, etc. Brass is a wonderful choice, and if you find it visually appealing, then more power to you! For a uniform look, you can incorporate other brass or metallic fixtures/accents. Like this:

I wouldn't do an ORB faucet. ORB is one of those finishes with a trendy look - sorry folks :( I like it myself, but let's face it. It is not timeless like chrome or mostly timeless like stainless. When you eventually tire of your ORB, it's much easier to swap out your lighting than deal with the expense of a new faucet. As for matching...as long as what you pick looks deliberate rather than random, you can mix things as you wish. SS is a good practical faucet finish. I'd pick it for those reasons alone, rather than its power to match your appliances. I picked chrome, mainly because I wanted really nice Grohe faucets, but didn't have the budget to get SS. Thinking about removing office to make decent mudroom - resale??

My children are growing quickly. I have a small laundry/mud room sitting between the kitchen and back door. I do wish it was bigger, but even more I wish I had a home office. It's not just the computers ( and we have 3 now, not counting laptops). There are also 2 printers, and 2 photo printers and scanners. I can't even count all the electronics we have now, DH LOVES them, and I love him. Don't forget docking stations to sync your iPhone and iPod, and photo card scanners........ Now that the kids are older, it would be great to have a special place for them to do homework, besides the kitchen table or hidden away in their rooms (or basement). Keeping the computers in a central open place is part of child internet safety. If helps parents stay vigilant. Unless you plan on selling our home very soon, I wouldn't worry about resell issues. But if you [plan on staying there a long time, think about what you may need in the not so distant future too. Your kids will be doing homework on the computer by 2nd grade. And with 3 kids I can already fill a lot of bookcases. An office space would be heaven. But I'b have to sell and move first. How about a mudroom in your finished basement instead?

Thanks for the suggestions. It never occured to me to look for a different one hole faucet I like; but that sounds like the most straightforward way to accomplish my goal. No drilling involved. BTW - if anyone is still reading this post.... I did just finish a mid-range kitchen remodel last year .... ALL WITH INSPIRATION AND DIRECTION FROM THIS KITCHEN BOARD, AND THE "FINISHED KITCHEN" SITE. It would NEVER have turned out as beautifully as it did without all your help!! Even tho I didn't actually "post" during my remodel, I did read and read, and looked at everything here! Now I'm moving.... but the new house has a beautiful remodeled kitchen, too -- just not "mine". (African Mahogany Cabinets -- whatever kind of wood that is! Ha!) I give it 3 years...... (chuckle).... We had some hiccups. This is week 2 of the project, demo was last Wednesday. However, this is only day 5 of work although it should be day 10 of work. I had deliveries scheduled and nobody was on site for several days. I had a palette delivered yesterday and the GC took about an hour to arrive to collect it from the sidewalk. We had a previously scheduled onsite meeting to go over questions so I presumed the crew would be there all day. Luckily, we live in a gated community and the property manager allowed me leave the palette in front of the building. He says we are still on schedule despite them not working for 5 of the 10 days. The crew is there today doing electrical work. The architect is coming by in a few days to inspect.

Personally, I think brass will be out fairly soon. That being said, if you are just talking about a few things, you could change out again in 5-8 years, go for it. I love polished nickel, though. I bet it was pricey at the time you bought it. My fave for kitchen is brushed nickel/stainless b/c it matches stainless appliances. I admit I am a matchy person, though. I am a fan of brass and put real brass doorknobs in the house I built b/c I think it is a classic, but I prefer for door hardware. And, the brass this "current" is more of a brushed gold. Long story short, go for it if you want. I would be less encouraging if you were talking about doing all your shower heads in the new brass. Harder to change than a kitchen faucet...
