First time homeowner needs help with St. Augustine & grassy weeds
Comments (7)When you say 24-D, you must have meant 2-4-D, which is a broadleaf herbicide, not a fertilizer. From the pics, I see a couple of nutsedge (a weed) and a lot of Bermuda grass. You can get rid of the nutsedge w/ an herbicidde like Sledgehammer. Getting rid of the Bermuda though is gonna be tough. You could mow your St. Augstine at the highest setting and that will shade out and slow the spread of the Bermuda. I'm not aware of any herbicide that will kill Bermuda w/o killing everything else in your yard. If you could take a picture that showed a wider shot of the lawn, that might be more helpful to get a sense of what you're up against....See MoreHelp! First time homeowner with lots of weeds!
Comments (0)My Girlfriend and I recently purchased a home (move in end of April) in Charlotte, NC. The lawn is a bit of a mess- lots of weeds in both the front and back, and a fair amount of small dirt patches in the backyard. Front yard gets plenty of sunlight, backyard is partially shaded. Is there anything I can do at this point in the spring (won’t be able to start lawn care until the first week in May)? Or should I just wait until the fall? Unfortunately, I know nothing about lawn care (both of us lived in condos/apts before this) but I am a willing and eager student! Could someone help point me in the right direction? I also should note that I have a young puppy, so I’ll have to make sure everything is safe to use around her. Thanks for the help!!...See MoreHELP! First-Time Homeowner Reno - Floor Plan Help
Comments (7)Your walk in closet is too narrow for two hanging sides and a walkway in the middle. IME each hanging side needs 27 inches and adding those together for two sides is 54 inches. You only show 10 inches for the isle. Not enough room. Comments (10)Nice house to play with! I agree the color of front door and shutters are not the best. As to the yard, I would put a much wider bed in front of the sidewalk and extend it possibly out into the front yard with a signature tree. Your roof looks like Weathered Wood? A brown/gray look? If so, black shutters and front door in black glossy would look really sharp with your white trim. Place an occasional moss bolder in the beds, for additional texture and interest. I would consider painting the garage door the color of your siding to make it blend in more if you can. Either that or wood tone to pick up roof color. I will see if I can do a little mock up for you. bbl...See Morelemmi17
