Its an Eastern Newt in its terrestrial eft stage. It has toxic body slime secretions, don't touch your eyes after handling it, and some people might be more sensitive, so watch for skin irritations, too. The only thing I could find on the Missouri Department of Conservation site was regarding a subspecies, the central newt. I don't think that's a central newt. I used to sell Eastern (or red-spotted) Newts at my pet store, they're really interesting, for about two weeks. lol However, it WAS really cool to catch some larvae with gills from a pond at Girl Scout Camp, they were tiny. CRF, yours isn't even an anole :) It looks like some sort of iguana, but you're going to have to look into lizards specific to your area to figure this one out! Maybe a Google search for "Costa Rica" and "iguana" will turn up some clues?

It looks to me like an Anole but I'm unsure of the species. My guess is Cuban Brown Anole. They are quite a common invasive species here in the United States, most likely elsewhere also.

Without close examination it can be difficult to positively identify. The Butterfly Lizard, Leiolepis belliana , comes from a very wide range, from South China to Sumatra in Indonesia and has a number of subspecies. Generally with that big a distribution you can expect a lot of variation in colours and patterns. If you're in Florida then there's 3 species of Agamid lizards that have been introduced and established themselves. This is a bit on subspecies Leiolepis belliana belliana I found: L. belliana belliana. Butterfly agama; Smooth-scaled ground agama; Smooth-scaled agama. Several subspecies. Gray to olive dorsally, yellow to red with black stripes on sides. Thailand, Burma, Laos (?), Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia (Sumatra, Pulau Bangka). If you haven't already seen it check thisLINK.
