Based on the arrangement of the leaves it might be a crassula. Looks like it needs less water and more light though.

Those look like Sempervivums, aka hens and chicks. They are extremely hardy (zone 3 at least) and should be grown outside and where they have room for the offsets (the chicks) to spread and root, creating a colony. They will also develop their proper coloring if exposed to some direct sunlight. There are several thousand named forms with a wide range of coloring. And all they need to thrive outside is well drained soil....a popular filler for rock walls but they will grow happily just about anywhere.

Spekboom translates literally to 'bacon tree' if I'm not mistaken. It's also very high in vitamin C, and other minerals, probably what gives it its tangy flavor. Could be how it helps nursing mothers. Looks like Graptosedum probably Vera Higgins or Bronze. Possibly Alpenglow or California Sunset though too.
