Acid washing question
Comments (5)O boy .....the heavier stuf you are going to have to remove manualy either with a trowel or chissel / scraper, or if it is still soft enough, with a wire brush, this will be time consuming, and try not to leave scrape marks in the stone when you are doing it , then clean with the acid making sure to wet the stone first and rinse thoroughly afterwards.. heavy rubber gloves & eye protection are a must.. When all is completely dry use a grout bag to grout in the joints, experiment with the grout mix usually slightly richer & softer mix (cake icing or dq ice cream consistency) will be best but dont make it sloppy or you will have the same problem. when the mortar is firm to the touch then tool it as you want. Again make certain this is real stone before proceding have fun Martin...See MoreWashing Machine question
Comments (1)Look like it might be from 2011 (it qualified for Energy Star status in 2011). It retailed for $1700.00 maybe on sale for a few hundred less. Sears Outlet is selling it for $1199.99 http://www.searsoutlet.com/d/product_details.jsp?pid=73987&mode=buyNewOnly&source=commisionj&sid=IAx20110411x000025&aff=y Seems like everyone hates it (by the user reviews). You may be able to get $500 - $700 depending on how well it's been kept up. Here is a link that might be useful: Consumer Reports...See Morepower washing question
Comments (5)If you don't use soap, its not gonna come clean. Period. It's akin to chopping a weed off at the surface. It will grow right back. Unless you use bleach, the mold spores will remain. Unless you use something to emulsify the dirt, it will remain. Your goal should be to employ the gentlest technique possible. I don't think 10% sodium hypochlorite is neccessary. I never go above a 2% final dilution. We never kill or brown a single blade of grass. It's all in the technique. The price is the last thing one should worry about. Think about this. Your home is your largest investment. If you decide to cheap out to save a measley $75 you will long forget that bliss of savings when the bitterness sets in after you see mold regrowing before the end of summer....See MoreAnother dish washing question...sink or double sink?
Comments (45)I'll add my comment here even though it echoes what most of you say. I have a double sink. I envy my sister who has a DEEP and WIDE single sink. I don't mind doing dishes there at all. She also has a spray attachment and you can spray rinse the pots to your heart's content and no water ever splashes out. Pots and pans are a cinch to wash in there. In a previous apartment, in a really old building, I had a nice fairly shallow single sink but there was also a deep sink that was used in the old days for a scrub board so you could do laundry in it. It was so useful for washing everything....See More- 7 years ago
