Thanks Parker. I keep trying to make it work because I really like it too… so I keep trying to convince myself that all wool rugs shed. But this is a lot. I’ve since noticed that all of this company’s rugs have complaints about this…

OMG! I've had two 100% wool area rugs, neither of which shed. They were both low pile. I cannot imagine how there could be anything left to your rug. Was anything said about no power bar being used? (Mine did.) Was anything said about the use of a Roomba?

Hi dsimber! Nothing was said about either. Reviewers said they resorted to using the regular vacuum to stop the shedding, and some said that it did eventually stop. But, my throat is irritated from the fibers (I am very sensitive to these things though) and no one will sit down on it because they get covered. Dh is vacuuming it again and it is getting less each time, but it’s still excessive.

Other options.. I am going to try to stay away from wool this time. Neither are great.

The first one looks very worth trying! Sorry you’re having wooly troubles but there is no telling why or how long and with baby I wouldn’t go the wool route. So many different kinds of sheep out there ya know? Things happen for a reason, I believe :).

The first one could work. Just don’t get a rug made from viscose as they can’t be shampooed.

I’m excited about the last one. Ordered a sample size, but won’t be here for a week and a half (around the same time that the other sample is supposed to come). Houzz has this one in a 10x12 for a great price and I hope the price stays!

The cypress one:

It’s a little dark and the size will be a little large than the previous one, so almost the entire area after the door way will be covered. (Room is 16’, doorway is 3’, rug is 12’10”

2nd one blends better with the chairs, but is it too busy with the art?

Maybe not too busy, the second one. Brings more airy feel to the room. I like it much more than the cypress :)

Second one does have all the right colors and will be under the furniture more which can make a nice difference

I like it better too Alice, because I prefer lighter. But I don’t want busy.

Were you able to do the “see in your room” with the second one? How do you feel about the cypress?

I know when you photo the second sage rug from atop it looks more busy, but as walking into the room at an angle it seems to be calmer?

What type coffee table or end tables will you be adding?

Thank you so much! I will look into that. A little more info as you are just seeing this thread. This is the den/ playroom for my four kids. My little ones play on the floor in here so no coffee table but would love end table. A 9x11 or 10x12 works best, but I can make an 8x10 work. Was hoping to add green in the rug, and I actually found one that I loved, but it was wool and shed everywhere and made me sick. So , I probably won’t try another wool one. Thanks again for looking for me..

You are welcome..I would keep the rug shades of neutrals if possible you can add a pillow or two to pull the green around the room.

The rug is unfortunately wool. After the last debacle, I am really trying to stay away from wool but thank you again for looking for me!

A good wool rug high quality and tight weave should not shed much and for a very short time..wool is so stong and easy to clean..antibacterial too..really good for busy familes. I can look for the same style or close to it in a polypropolene but remember any rug you get needs a good felt pad under it to protect the floors and keep it from moving and sliding around..it also gives a nice plush comfortable feel for the family.

Me too. I found it on Amazon, but the reviews aren’t great and the largest size it comes in is a 710 by 10’2. Was hoping for larger.

Maybe too late to comment…but I really like HIWE’s suggestions, most notably the one on bottom right. It seems to anchor the room & at the same time draws the eye to the art over the sofa. That’s my vote

good…what size is your room? are you wanting the rug to be in front of the door too..or just the seating area?

I wasn’t clear. That was the rug I loved that shedded everywhere. Reviews had complaints about shedding, but I didn’t realize what they meant till this rug was in my house. It was awful. So, that was returned and the search is back on. But, I did like the larger size and would like to try to find something similar in size
