Over 60 large trash bags! Very ugly. She kept all this secret. No even her best friend had been in her house. They always met at a restaurant or golf course. Her mind and hope must have tanked. She never used to be this way. Can’t get my mind around this. I am exactly the opposite. Not OCD but sone might think so!! Especially my kids when they were growing up! lol.

Big milestone day. Junk folks got a ton done. House is about 75% cleaned out. Some things I am keeping for future staging and sale. 60% garage done. What a rat’s nest! Carpeting and padding, bed and box springs gone. Hoping smell goes with it. I think my poor sister was very ill mentally as well as physically. She hid it very well. So moving forward. It’s a darling house and if the funds are available, I will make some “value added” investments for enhancing sale. Great starter house or get away house 15 min drive from the shore. We shall see. I am already dreaming of how cute this house can be. 😂

Just to make for more stress, there is major freeze warning for area my sister’s home is in. So I had to scramble to find a plumber who could come over and shut off whole house water and drain pipes. After we had that pipe freeze in Feb of 2021, I am super cautious. I hated to spend the money but found perfect people who showed up on time with reasonable pricing. My helper met them at the house along with exterminator (too many bugs!) and that technique was so nice he even blew the large, long driveway off with his leaf blower! Now that’s an Angel!! I am being watched over. Got second dumpster of junk out so down to only key pieces to sell or donate! The junk guys took out carpet, padding and even the carpet strips with those nails! From master br and bath area! So great! I am moving right along!! Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers. Definitely helping!

This room will be next for shades. It’s before the fence to the backyard, and really needs something. Do I still add the 8” on top of the window even if it will be higher than the French doors to the dining room? Ignore my dead flowers, it’s better than nothing 😂

You need to not do 8 in at the window even it to the top of the French doors it will still have enough space that isn't too much at the window cuz you like it to be even it will look great

Thanks again! It’s so nice when it just works and feels great. Any thoughts on the height for the other rooms? Do I add the 8” like I did in the bathroom or do I line them up with other things in the rooms, like the door heights or whatever?

Just saw that happyleg! Thank you. I definitely think that makes sense, but I also really like the extra height. Also, if going the route of lining up with the other things in each room, will the heights of the shades be different in each room? in the den, do I line it up with the art, the top frames in the gallery, or the door ways? So many things to consider, which is making me think to do as Julie suggested in each room.

On rooms that adjoin, be consistent in each room. I personally prefer hanging high. I think it always adds interest.

Ty Flo! After I wrote that all out, I realized that that’s the option that makes the most sense. With my 8’ ceilings, I can benefit from the illusion of height by hanging things high!

There is a BOGO sale going on now and I am so excited to order when I get home! 2 questions.

1. I love the look of the shade just covering the trim. But, it was hard to hang with the exact measurements, as I am assuming the trim isn’t exactly straight. If I add 1/4” to each side (so 1/2” total), will I still get this look? This would just be to accommodate for any little errors.
2. I forgot to account for the pattern on my dinette chairs. Please tell me this still works!

Can you take a picture of the window with the shade so we see the problem or does it come in a bigger size? Maybe you can order a bigger one that would extend over to the two windows to make it look like one window when it's closed

Happyleg, thankfully there is no problem but it just took a bit to hang just right. I’m wondering if the adding an extra bit to each side would help eliminate that work, or it’s not worth it.
In regard to ordering one big shade, the shades are $350 each, but right now on sale for “buy one, get one”. I’m scared to even think how much a huge one will be.

I think adding 1” extra inch will give a little wiggy room when hanging…I think they will work well with your dining chairs..have you put the fabric sample next to them?

All neutrals should be fine...

With a variety of neutrals you sill be fine. Add pictures to tie everything together. You will be fine. You can do a lot with that look. I would go a bit bigger to make installation easier. It won’t negatively impact your look. Get that sale girl!!

Yesterday was just one of those “no good, very bad days” that was making me consider moving to Australia (anyone else read that book to their kids?). Today, I am not sure what I was thinking, but I made dentist appointments for all my kids. Thankfully, that went ok, but now we are heading to my parents for the weekend. Hoping we can get these up soon and that they look as good as I am hoping they do!!
