Roseann! Thoughts and opinions.....

I really enjoyed the show tonight. The bantering between Jackie and Rosenn, Jackie turning up in the pink hat and nasty woman t-shirt was hilarious.

Like all quickly paced sitcoms, I had difficulty hearing everything.

What did the little granddaughter say she wanted to be when she grew up?

There were a few other things I didn't catch, but for the most part, I laughed.

MP, i do remember that they hit the lottery but don't remember any of the details so I probably read it in the tv guide. So glad that since you watch such little tv you've got something fun to watch.

Guess I wasn't watching when Roseanne was pregnant.

I had to google. I guess I stopped watching the show at some point as I don't remember her pregnant with a fourth child.

Since your house is so very long, I thought it could use one more color pulled from the rock. I don't like the wrought iron railings or those lights on the columns. Whatever lights are selected they shouldn't post mounted lights. They should be pier mounted lights. You might want to consider a railing system with cables

    STEICO underlayment - thoughts, opinions?

    Q

In searching underlayment options for a floating engineered hardwood floor over concrete, I came across this German rigid underlayment material. It comes in green panels (6mm or 3mm) that are 3'x2' and are made of wood fibers. Available through Lowes or Amazon, and the reviews there look favorable, but I can find no mention of it here. Does anyone have any experience with it, or recommendations (either for it, or against it)?

Opinions and thoughts about air fryers

I have a small one and like it. I don't like trying to clean the insert that goes in the bottom. I now use aluminum foil when cooking meat in it because it is impossible to get all the gunk out of the tiny holes. I soak overnight in hot water and Dawn but it still doesn't come out. I use mine nearly every day. It doesn't take up much counter space but I got a small one. I ordred a delivered pizza the other day, something I hadn't done in a very long time. Two leftover slices of a medium sized pizza fit in mine for warming up. There is a little overlap but it still warmed it up perfectly. It's perfect for making a small batch of battered frozen shrimp, frozen scallops, chicken thights/wings, and filet minon. I'm hoping to use it for the veggies that I get out of the garden this year. I haven't tried making frozen salmon yet but plan to try that soon.

Looking for thoughts and opinions about LVP bevels.

    Q

    Comments (2)
It is a great question. It comes up all the time in our sales process at a floor covering showroom. I would say it depends on who you ask. One thing for sure, it takes more at factory level to make bevels on LVPs. So be prepared to pay extra. Personally, I like non-beveled LVPs. I don't feel LVP bevels attractive and will look dated someday.

I thought they adopted or fostered a little boy. Not hers. But I looked it up, and Jerry was born in season 7. Guess I wasn't watching that year.

Sushipup no the last baby is Dan and Roseannes boy. I guess there's only going to be 9 episodes so since the baby didn't yet have a personality they didn't write him into the show.

    Thanks Moonie.

My husband came into the room minutes before the show started and ask if he should make me popcorn lol, he said he was glad to see me sitting with my feet up. I ask him to join Amiee and me he declined saying he never cared for that show which was a bald faced fib. 8 minutes into the show I heard his bedroom tv playing the Roseanne show and he laughed the entire way throughout it. Funny.

Eld, i missed a whole post of yours! Yes, Jackie's opposition and the way it was presented, was funny! Just to clarify, i have absolutely no problem with surrogacy. Like you, i didnt like all the lying... and the fact Becky was doing it solely for monetary purposes totally rubbed me wrong. I just didn't like it.

I kind of watched it. Did you all notice that the mom that Becky was planning to be a surrogate for was one of the former 'Becky's'? It's hard for me to see John Goodman so changed. It didn't seem like simply aging, he looked really different to me.

PK yep both played Becky inthe past.

Yep, both Beckies are on the show but I had no clue they had a fourth child. I must not have watched it then. I watch it for Jackie. She's so neurotic but then the whole family is nuts.

They stuffed a lot of issues into one program. A lot of one liners. The only person who really changed was Dan and like another poster said he does look different. I can't say that I want Watch more of the program. It seemed that When it ended I was OK with that. I am glad you all had some good laughs though. It wasn't that Roseann was a Republican but that I didn't want to hear discussions about that. Our lives are filled with so much controversy I want some relief and was sorry that was one of the main threads.

Maggie, they certainly hit on all the key points that are happening today. Politics, surrogacy, gender identity, being gay, interracial marriage, military, life coaching, medications for seniors etc.

So many directions this show can go in.

The fact that they put Jackie as the counterpoint to Roseann ade things humorous instead of controversial.

So interesting that many of us stopped watching toward the end.

I missed it, will have to catch it on Demand. I did watch it later, the only thing i didn't like was the political talk, and the friction between the sisters. (Roseanne and Jackie). I always liked their relationship, I found the Trump stuff too much. Go for the gentle family humor. and i hope to see their mother (Estelle Parsons) in a future episode. Of coure the grandma Shelley Winters is gone.

Ah, I should have noticed. All the subjects they can talk about get talked about every day. I honestly believe the reparte is is overdone and boring. I just don't think having them punching at each other’s politics over and over again is warranted in these times. The country is in trouble. I'd rather watch Call the Midwife where people are helping each other is inspirational and hopeful.

And Roseanne is loud and must feel that this is the person people want to see on talk shows when the hosts look like they can’t wait to get her outta there. I guess I’m in the minority.

They had a fourth baby during the second to last season. About a year or so after Jackie had her baby. They did mention baby Jerry in the episode last night but I don't know if he will be a main character or be in the show at all now.

During the last episode of the original Roseanne mentioned that she wrote a book. She said in real life Dan passed away after his heart attack. That's why in the beginning of this season she said I thought you were dead and he said why does everyone keeps saying that. Now that I think about it it still doesn't make sense. He was supposed to pass in real life not the book. But oh well lol

I'm still not sure how I feel about it. My mom and cousin thought it was funny. DH and I were wondering if we missed something lol We love the original but I'm still not sure about the new one. There was just a lot of subject matter being forced into one episode. I will say it was nice to see a show showing the other side of things politically. All the shows I see now are so anti-Trump and anti-republican. I watched an interview Jimmy Kimmel did with Roseanne and she said as a country we shouldn't want to see our president fail. I agree with that.

I'll keep watching to see how I feel about it. Hopefully it'll start to feel like the original soon when they get back into the swing of things. :) Also I can't wait to see the grandma, Bev, make an appearance. She was always hilarious. :)

She wrote he died her book because she didn't want to deal with the reality of it in real life. She said in the last episode. Like it was all a flashback.

"For those who may have forgotten, Roseanne’s ninth – and
previously final – season saw the Conners win the lottery and engage in
ridiculously wacky storylines that most fans at the time found to be out
of character for the series that had once taken pride in realistically
spotlighting a blue-collar family. Seemingly in response to this, the
final episode saw Roseanne take things in the complete opposite
direction, revealing that the series itself had been a story the “real”
Roseanne Conner was writing, and that Dan had died of the heart attack
he suffered at the end of season 8."

ETA: Crass. that's why I don't watch. We're talking about a woman who sang the Star Spangled Banner in that manner that she did. Wasn't funny to me.

I only watched the first half hour or so and thought it was ok up til then. I realize Roseanne has her own distinctive delivery but I thought she sounded slow and even awkward at times last night.

The first go round the opening shot had clothes strewn on the steps and the kids are sullen and she's a slob. And, yes she disrespected the NationalAnthem and scratched herself. I'm tired of crazy. For all the executive producers they have I think this will wear the viewers out along with the laugh track.

I decided to watch for a few minutes as I did watch the old show from time to time. I think little of Roseanne Barr but sure do like her sister's character. I was surprised I felt like watching both episodes; it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be and had the same feel (writers? directors?) to it as before.

I think part of that “I thought you were dead” stuff had to do with poking fun at all the bogus rumors that pop up saying John Goodman died. I know I’ve seen that a few times.

We are going to watch it tonight. The clips I’ve seen look pretty funny. One nice difference in this show is that the people look real, not all gorgeous and perfect.

The second episode showed that the show isn't always going to be political, just topical. It covered bullying, surrogacy, etc. I didn't always watch Roseanne first time around and don't know what I will do this time around but the part I liked best was that a family that disagreed on different topics could still be civil and talk. Maybe that will make a difference on society. Wouldn't that be nice.

I think a lot of people probably tuned in out of curiosity, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they see a drop in viewers. I saw about 10 minutes of it and that was enough for me. The acting felt stiff and the references to today’s culture (nasty woman, trump, etc.) seemed contrived.

I remember in the original show in the first season the acting was pretty bad - Roseanne laughed way too much. But they all definitely improved as time went on. I think I stopped watching after they won the lottery and too much changed. I guess either they blew all the money or they will just pretend it didn't happen in the new series.

I thought there were some funny moments and I'll definitely keep watching. Hopefully the politics will be gone.

I laughed out loud too. Texted friend "OMG that's my family!" The life coach sister ( I have one of those, too) was so confused she voted for someone she didn't even know. Its refreshing to see them handling today's difficult issues with humor instead of the venom we have been hearing from other so called comedians.

I liked it and found myself laughing out loud. They packed a lot of topics in the first episode, which they had to, but hopefully future episodes will be less. I've always enjoyed the relationship between Roseanne and Jackie and it did not disappoint. Laurie Metcalf is great in everything she does. I love her character as Sheldon's mom in Big Bang Theory.

So funny! I was going to start a new thread. I like how the show is handling the current issues.

DJ and not being allowed to reenlist. What is this all about?

Roseanne's turn around with her Muslim neighbors.

Darlene's problem with finding a job. Then the issues with her two kids.

Dan losing jobs to immigrants willing to work for much less.

The show keeps you on the edge of your seat!

I am really enjoying it. DH was never fan of the old show or Roseanne, but likes the new show. I like the way current issues are being addressed and I find myself laughing out loud quite often. Last nights episode has me wondering. It appears Roseanne has been on prescribed narcotics for pain but she's also found herself with other peoples narcotics. She admitted she takes more than prescribed. I hope this goes further because its now established that her body is now dependent on the narcotics. Yes even if they are only taken for pain the body will become dependent (addiction) . Now Roseanne needs to show viewers what happens...what the body goes thru when you go thru withdrawal and how to get help. This is how many people become dependent on opioids...for many it starts with chronic pain from back injurys, car accidents, arthritis, ect ect. At some point the narcotics fail to provide relief but when the person stops taking the opioid their body is wracked with a different pain. Body aches from head to toe, intense gastro cramping, diarrhea, vomiting, chills. just to name a few so the person continues taking. Where does one turn for help. This is what Roseanne needs to address now that she's opened up the subject in a very personal way. I'm going to be disappointed in Roseanne if last nights episode was all that we hear about Roseanne and her taking narcotics.
