Help! Can't find backsplash for St. Cecillia Light counter tops
Comments (4)First, take a deep breath. This problem comes up here a few times a month! Step back and look at how the over all color "reads"in your kitchen. The reason why Laurie's looks so good is that it not only blends with the St Cecilla but it also blends with the cream in her cabinets. What color are your cabinets? If your cabinets are white and the counters read more grey, I would try to find a white tile with a grey undertone. Or a very light grey. Can you post your kitchen? It is funny that you mentioned no backsplashes shown with your granite. When I was having difficulty finding a backsplash, I went back to see my inspiration kitchen pictures. (They were white kitchen) Not one had a backsplash! I was so involved in the style and the color of the cabinets, I did not think ahead about the vision of my backsplash. There are a few directions that you can go in, but if you post a picture it is easier for us to help you....See MoreCan't decide on backsplash
Comments (8)Your choices are lovely. Since I recently did my kitchen, so I share your backsplash pain. A couple of thoughts: Grout samples of smaller tiles that you’re considering and see how you like the look before you commit. There was a mix of grey and white marble mosaics that I liked - until I saw a grouted sample. The reason my contractor and I decided against arabesque is that the spaces between the tiles won’t be even - look very closely at example photos - so it would take a lot more work to do properly, especially since I wanted colored grout. The size of the tiles also varied slightly. Oddly, this was true even on large machine made arabesques. I didn’t want to spend the time and money on them. After much searching, I have the spirit of arabesque (married to Mod?) in these Walker Zanger tiles, which I really like. I’m not suggesting these as an option for you - the colors are very limited - rather to give you ideas about alternatives to arabesque....See MoreNeed help with backsplash tile color! Can’t decide!!
Comments (2)I like your cabinets. Is that first photo your countertop? It looks very white. I like them. Do you have to chose one of those options for a backsplash? Is that your wood floor? I feel like the backsplash tiles are going to be too dark and on the gray side rather than the cream that is in your cabinets. I wish you could take a photo further away. I wonder if a lighter color closer to the color of your counter might be a better option....See MoreHelp deciding on kitchen backsplash with busy countertop
Comments (20)I'm impressed too. really! I didn't know it even existed. if you're doing a simple backsplash that happens to fit well -- with no outlets and no corners -- then I could see this product being somewhat easy for a novice DIYer. but I don't see it making this particular kitchen project much easier or cleaner. they would need the tiles to meet in a corner (trickier if the walls are not perfectly plumb). plus cutting holes for outlets. plus lots of grouting and caulking is not super easy for a novice either. all of it very messy. (OMG the process of washing the grout. ugggggggh.) that's all I'm trying to say. peel and stick backing would only make this the tiniest bit simpler, and majorly limits the style and color choices. just doesn't seem worth it....See MoreNichole Zillmer
