What Would You Do If You Received Plants That Looked Like This?
Comments (22)I don't check in here regularly, so am just getting to this. I did receive a very nice, thoughtful reply from Schreiners explaining the growing season, etc. And while nothing that I said in my initial note was inaccurate, the tone of my letter to them was too heated (and I acknowledged this to them in a reply). Additionally, I scrapped the photos. However, to those who are saying they'll live, don't worry, there are plenty that look worse, etc, I understand that. However, that isn't the point. I didn't buy them in a bin at Lowe's for three and a half bucks. I expect a better product from a better source. They are all planted, and though they don't look any different above ground, I'm hopeful that below ground the roots of each one is doing well. Hopefully, I'll be posting pretty pictures of some of these next spring. Mike...See MoreIKEA cabinet - how can I make it look less like Ikea?
Comments (22)Not knowing the sq. footage of your space, it's hard to push you in that direction... my tile is just those three walls (can't see the the third) - as the sink is set into that space and stands alone. I think all said and done it was $400 for tile and labor - but the guy just came in to do this job. You'll be bidding out for more tile than just this.... so labor wise, it probably won't add much to your overall labor cost. I purchased at a local tile store - but was just in Lowes last night and they have some really pretty glass accents (like the one I used) -- if that's your thing. It just added a little extra interest. The wall where my towel holder is (to the left of the sink) was just full of water drip stains. You can't get them out. It was either re-paint every couple years or tile. As for your sink choice - I truly believe it comes down to the look you want to achieve. The all white cabinet, with white subway tiles and accent tiles would look pretty awesome. I can't imagine that the fiberboard is any less durable than the pine.......See MoreHow do I make my kitchen look less meh?
Comments (44)I think your kitchen is very nice, I don’t think the backsplash clashes with the cabinetry and I’m often critical of that in a lot of kitchen photos I see. You know what your kitchen reminds me of? Those rooms where a lot of different shades of whites, creams, and ivories are used... they don’t really match, but they all just go together nicely... and the thing (I think) that ties them all together is a lot of use of texture. So, for that, I like the chairs you have that are woven, as opposed to the smooth, white chairs. And I don’t think you need that tablecloth, I think the table looks just fine without it. I’d add some natural sea grass like colors and textures and some houseplants, maybe some wood cutting boards against the backsplash... any other colors I would gravitate towards would be soft blues and greens, nothing too intense....See Morehow do I make these chairs look less farmhouse and more grand mill?
Comments (52)Hi LS I received a message from another user to come to your thread and see if I could offer some assistance. I have not read through each of the comments due to a limited amount of time to do so on my part, However I did get to your photo of the navy chairs around a white table. So thus far my question is this. Grand Millineal is not the style of that inspiration photo you shared. That is a modern farmhouse style. SO before movimng on which one are you trying to achieve? With your existing chairs the only type of paint that may bring them closer to the Grand mIllineal look is to have them lacquered professionally, the seat bottom upholstered and adding a great fabric inspired pillow with a great flat trim to the back. If you were to do that it would get you closer but still would have a distinictive country vibe due to the X back on the chair. Also if you were to do all those things you would be spending more on your existing chairs than you would if you were to source new chairs. GM doesnt limit itself to a Chinese Chippendale chair and bamboo. That style would be difficult to pick up for a song currently due to its popularity but others would not. Also which form of GM are you inspired by? Coastal GM? Grandma GM? Tradiational GM? all things to consider. If your heart is set on the Chinese Chippendale style chair I would try to get to a Ballard Design outlet center on a weekend. They always have them on the floor there and usually run 50% off during the weekends. You won't get 4-6 of the same color but you will get them for a great price and then can paint them. Also these on Birch Lane are some of the least expensive versions out there https://www.birchlane.com/Birch-Lane™--Janae-Cross-Back-Side-Chair-X111659226-L168-K~B000285454.html?refid=GX433453121207-B000285454_593188138&device=c&ptid=1068218427322&network=g&ireid=209925791&targetid=aud-1644963994469:pla-1068218427322&PiID%5B%5D=593188138&gclid=Cj0KCQjwzqSWBhDPARIsAK38LY_C01HsFU3gcl5eWuzHF85BMfaDevC_zQsUsxIxk44zMv6nyasmWN8aAs3vEALw_wcB&piid=584891105 Best of luck!...See MoreCor
