Is a thermostatic shower valve the best choice for us?

We are remodeling the master bath. The current shower has a pressure balance valve, and the water takes several minutes to heat in the morning, wasting water. We are changing from bypass glass doors to a hinged door and moving the valve to a pony wall near the shower door so we don't have to enter the shower to turn it on. I would prefer not to walk into water at full blast like we do with our current shower because it will probably splash out the open door.

Will a thermostatic valve get to shower temperature while using less water? I read this and it sounds like it will:

Thermostatic valves automatically draw only from the hot water supply
until cold water is actually needed for the desired temperature.

Because Pressure Balance shower valves and mechanical mixers have no automatic
limitation of the cold water supply, they not only waste cold water but
also slow the draw of hot water, causing a longer wait for the valve to
reach the desired setpoint.

But is the warm-up quick enough to make it worth the extra expense of a thermostatic valve? Can you recommend some brands and/or models of valves? Our plumbing salesperson has selected a Riobel pressure balance valve and hand shower for us.
