Window treatments for bungalow stained glass windows?

We're looking for the right window treatment to cover the bottom half of our three front windows in our 1920s bungalow (photo attached). The top half of the windows is stained glass; we want occasional coverage for the bottom half of the windows (i.e., at night) for privacy. We're looking for the best option that will have the least impact on the look of the windows. We're considering these Simple Fit Pop In Shades, to avoid drilling in the wood window frames: https://www.blindsgalore.com/simple-fit/filter?size=28.75x31.25.

My questions:

1) Since we only want coverage on the bottom half, should we get regular blinds and install the blinds in the middle of the window (i.e., at the top of the bottom window) and just pull them down over the bottom half when needed, or should we get top-down/bottom-up blinds and install them at the very top of the whole window, knowing that we would use the top-down/bottom up feature to just cover the bottom half?

In other words, would it look funny to have the blinds installed at the midway point? Would the mounting look better at the very top of the whole window frame?

2) Any other options we should consider?

If the fabric you are planning to use for the drapes is not super heavy and you don't need/want the entire window exposed when the drapes are open, you can use a single panel that is pulled to the side of the stationary pane. That's what I have and almost no glass is covered when my drape is open. Your side door frame appears a bit smaller than mine but it should still work. I have an Anderson slider also. From the outside edge of my door frame to the inside edge of the window grill it measures almost 9" - your's might be a bit less but that is your side stack area that won't impact the view. But I see you have a large switch panel - that won't be in the way of the hangings you plan to use? Honestly, with your fireplace, TV, chandelier, bookcase.....your wall hangings may not be shown to their best advantage flanking the door anyway. If you use them elsewhere you could easily have your curtain panel(s) stack back fully off the doors and frame.

I agree. I was thinking something with clean lines (no curtains). Would you do a shade on the door itself and a separate one for the adjacent sidelight? Or would you do a single shade across the door/sidelight opening (and you would have to raise it to use the door)?

And rearrangement never ends! I have been digging things into the ground for the winter and thinking that's not really where I want it. I guess I'll be busy rearranging next season again! I really like Stained Glass. I've been struggling with a very small Cathedral Windows so I can't comment on it. Saw Etched Glass in a nursery this year and picked it up. But since my garden is full, I decided to put it back. Sometimes what I find with newer hosta (that not many people have) is that they may not grow well, or they may not look good all season etc. So I try to refrain from buying new until others have it and can tell me more about it. Anyways, it slows down the amount of new hostas I get to have---which is actually a good thing for me---until I find more hosta real estate!

I love those windows! I would not use drapes. Cafe curtains make me think of kitchens, although I expect there are some that wouldn't look "kitcheny" When I first read the post I thought the type of blind (Roman?) that is fabric and can be drawn up or lowered as needed, in a gauze, sheer, or vintage linen-weight fabric; place over the lower half only. What Nicetown Curtains posted is the look that I was thinking of. If you can't find any ready-made, I bet you could find a seamstress or tailor to make them.

You could use tension rods between each window with tier curtains, either sheers or grommet tops.

I would recommend Top/Down Bottom up shades. Providing GREAT privacy, fantastic control, and the ability to reeeeeeally enjoy that gorgeous stained glass.

Hey There: We suggest bottom up top down operating blinds - these blinds are less than one inch in depth and do perfectly install as inside mount. This way you do not take away anything from your window trim or blocking to much glass with a bulky roman shade for example.
