Unless you're going to leave the windows open or the furniture will somehow be exposed to the elements (or messy from the outdoors people), I would choose casual, comfy indoor furniture. It's going to be gorgeous regardless of what you decide!!

I love your room!! I would also go with indoor furniture. I haven't found too many wicker chairs or sofas very comfortable to sit on for long. In the end you should do what is best for YOU, though. Do you sit for a couple of hours chatting or reading? If so, what do you think you will enjoy or be most comfortable using?

You can do a mix of both indoor and outdoor furniture.

Lovely room -- either would work -- we have two "sunrooms" -- upstairs we have leather chairs (from other places) and a wood bookcase. Downstairs we have a walnut table, mahogany chairs and an ebony 1870s sideboard because it is our "breakfast room". IF, I would be buying furniture for the upstairs room, I would buy wicker . . . but I used what I had.

I have a sun porch with sliders. It does have baseboard heat so it's a year 'round room. I have two wicker rockers and a child's wicker rocker, plus a very much "indoor" slipcovered very small love seat. There is also an antique Victorian wire plant stand. Plants come inside from the terrace in the winter, so it's crammed with greenery; in the summer, I add a few ferns and the large ficus tree stays in all year - too big to move. In the winter, I have a handpainted floor cloth; in the summer I use a McAdoo hooked rug (less watering going on - McAdoo is wool). I love combining both.

Indoor furniture that's comfy but you could select a sofa with exposed wood frame and/or details that make it feel like a nice bridge between indoor/outdoor.

Interesting dilemma, and a nice problem to have!. My first thought is what effect do you really want? Do you want to feel like you more outdoors or in? Another thought, how many "living rooms" do you already have? If I had a living room and a family room, I would prefer to have a different look for a third relaxing room. I would even for the second unless I absolutely could not find the right comfort in indoor/outdoor furniture. Lastly, I like the idea of very casual wicker or similar furniture with sunbrella fabric on cushions meant to handle humidity.....

Lovely room! I would do a comfortable seating surface. Wicker furniture isnt usually overly comfortable after all. I think slip covered chairs or sofa or both would look lovely. If you use a sunbrella fabric you won't have to put too much worry into fading and staining. I think a sofa and two wicker wing back chairs would be lovely. Or a round coffee table with four chairs around it for conversation.

Comfortable, where ever that takes you!! Because your windows are full-length floor to ceiling as many sunrooms are you can easily go either way. Fully upholstered but casual will look as at home as a beautiful wicker set. Personally, I can see a table for cards/puzzles being a good thing!!

I’ve had both. I began with all wicker—expensive and very comfortable, but recently changed out the wicker sofa for a white Lee slipcovered sofa, and recovered the two wicker chairs in a green ticking. I much prefer the new sofa, but the wicker still gives a nod to the room’s function as a sunroom.

whether indoor our outdoor, i'd want it to look 'open' and i agree very much with indigo rose to have a special feeling in the room and not more of the same.

wicker furniture CAN be hellaciously uncomfortable.... if you go into say, Target, and buy something cheap. go to a good 'outdoor' furniture store, look at high end brands, you'll find very comfortable choices at uncomfortable prices. we have some deep cushioned Telescope brand on our deck that i never want to move from.

now that some furniture manufacturers are offering sunbrella fabrics for indoor furniture, this might be a good compromise. you and your guests may enjoy a more relaxed sitting area where sloshing a margarita on the couch isnt the end of the world.

last thought... i'd not recommend trying to squeeze a sectional into this room. it might fit, but its no fun rubbing bare arms and knees with others on a hot evening.

Something to consider-if your sunroom is very humid in the summer (assuming it is not air conditioned of course), indoor fabrics can become mildewed.

I have all-weather (i.e., some kind of plastic) wicker furniture on my exposed porch and everyone comments on how comfortable it is! I use a 4" cushion for the seats, so perhaps that helps.

I think your new sunroom is beautiful and I can easily picture it with white wicker furniture. :)

Ah, humidity! That's quite an issue here in Virginia. We're accustomed to it and our backyard is heavily shaded so we'll be comfortable, but indoor furniture may get pretty damp in July and August.

I would also use sunbrella type fabrics, which will be resistant to sunlight/fading, mildew and dirt. You don't want to worry about sitting on the furniture after coming in sweaty/dirty after doing some gardening.

Humidity is a MAJOR issues here in KY! Due to that, and my allergies, plus heat, my sliders are very rarely ever open on my sunporch. It is heated in the winter, and the house AC does a fine job with the door open to the porch from the LR, in the summer. The ceiling fan helps, too. None of my fabric is Sunbrella - it's what I could find at the right price over 38 years (yes, the print IS that old - lost it and found it again!).

Anglo -- our breakfast room/porch is the same as yours -- made with sliders -- only ours is smaller -- one slider wide and two sliders long -- but we also have brick floors as you do -- I like your mix -- ours is a breakfast room/porch so we have all wood furniture and it's where we always eat breakfast and lunch and where I have my afternoon tea!

From the inside

It's lovely and I think you will use it far more than you can even imagine. A few options come to mind: slipcovered furniture, rattan or wicker. We have a 22 foot sunroom with this set, plus the matching chair-all in a different fabric. This has served us well for 25 years (replaced the cushions/fabric once).

Our room is heated but we use it in tree seasons only, which is why I am not showing you a picture right now. It hasn't been opened for the season.

It all depends on your taste and design preferences. I can advise you to choose furniture that you will perfectly adapt for use both inside the room and outside.

This option will suit you if you do not intend to spend extra money. When you want to sit in the company of loved ones in bad weather, you will move the furniture into the room. When the weather is nice, you'll move it back outdoors. Rattan furniture is best because it is light and comfortable.
