another climbing rose question - Nahema

This was planted Nov. 2016, it got badly sunburnt in January but has recovered. It has only flowered occasionally, but I've been told climbing roses can take longer.

It's just over 2m high (80")

Am I right in thinking that I shouldn't prune it until after it has flowered next summer, and then just the laterals? Or if I prune the laterals now, will that encourage more to grow?
