Black Maranta
Comments (28)Yes, asleep - it is the only one I have and it still lives. I will visit your shameless plug! lol! Paul - your leaf does look like some of the leaves on the Exotic Angel site so I think you found it! Now I have to renew my search! Do you think the first photo I posted is Black Maranta as it first emerges from the soil or do you think it is the green? The original plant was no longer at Wave Hill when I went back so I can't check on it. I agree that calathea are much fussier than maranta. I've had great luck with maranta until last year when the marasela developed leaf spot, something I never had before. I threw it out but maybe too late. They are still alive but barely. I cut them all down. If I find replacements, I'll throw them all out....See MoreToday's colour is red...
Comments (21)The red coloring sure is gorgeous. Now, is it 2 weeks of red flush or an hourly flush? When you think about it 2 weeks would be wonderful, heck my peonies in some years only bloom for 2 weeks and the wind blows the blooms to pieces and the show is over and I then have a green plant to look at the rest of the year. Great photos everyone....See MoreAssignment #1
Comments (24)Ang, I think that's great. We were hoping that as people had time that they would feel free to contribute. With Christmas activities, winter vacations and kids' activities getting in the way there is bound to be others who will post later on also. If you wish to skip an assignment that is fine too. The assignments seem to be going over well and that is what Sierra and I wanted to happen. Let's make picture taking this winter challenging but lots of fun. Brenda...See MoreIan Thorpe - brown rose
Comments (17)Dee & Annie I'm sorry the pic didn't quite come out as brown as it really is in realy life. It is the closest to Leonidas in colouring I've seen - truly. My Ian T still has much leaves on it and as far as I can see - no PM. However - as none of my other roses around it has PM - I would imagine that given another season and time - it would succumb to PM like some of my other roses - I'd have to succumb to the spraygun. I've tried to fiddle with the colouring here to give a better impression .......See MoreEllie
