Is the PBS 'Call the Midwife' the same as the old BBC or is it an American remake?

I normally hate 'soap operas', but the British do such a great job, I like them. 'Call the Midwife' is one of our favorites- thanks for the heads-up!

Albert, you might be mistaking this PBS series for something else. There's never been an American remake. The series is in its 7th season, with previous seasons on Netflix or Amazon, or other.

I love this show. It’s lovely and gritty and really gives you a sense of what living in London in the 50’s and 60’s could have been like for hardworking people struggling to survive. The casting, acting and costumes are wonderful.

I am a longtime follower of this show. I do miss the actors who have moved on from the series. I also recommend the book Call The Midwife by Jenny Worth.

Hooray for the DVR. We record this and others to watch at during our Teatime Matinee. DH has set it to record Victoria home TV while we were on Maui. (He likes that one better than I do. Kinda skimpy on the production, especially after seeing The Crown.)

Both episodes were very good! I love the way that new Nurse Lucille has taken to Sister Monica Joan. And the way Mr. Gelin responded to the service outside of their home was very touching, as was his gift to Nurse Crane. I didn't cry, but it was close in the first ep.

The death bed scene is one I will never forget. It was beautiful and moving. The way he said "If I never told you..., I am telling you now". I loved when the mother giving birth in the school van responds to her husband's protests that he never had hesitated removing her bloomers in the past.

I enjoyed the audio book. I had no trouble undestanding the narrator.

The actress who plays Trixie was pregnant in real life as they filmed this episode, thus they wrap her in blankets or coats and have her behind furniture or holding things. She had a difficult pregnancy but the baby is fine. The father is the actor who plays the young clergyman on the show. At one point, their characters were dating and quite seriously so.

Did I hear correctly that they are just showing us these two episodes and it will return at a later date? I had planned on recording the new ones and then have a nice evening of watching as many as they will offer all at once. It is always a let down when the weeks show is over. I love it dearly.
