What happens if you plant bulbs too close for comfort

I'm digging up this area in fall anyhow but curious....

(aka, daffidols are not staying)

I plant my bulbs dense. Generally 1 1/2 inches apart on average. Can't predict how these things will sprout but literally, I have two tulip bulb leaves competing side2side. The kicker is right in middle, I've got a daffidol trying to squeeze through.

The remainder of all bulbs are distinct in their own ~space~ yet densely clustered. This one described, kinda is like a daffodil sandwich with tulips bulbs as as the bread.
