Comments (26)Hey txhottie~ That is one gorgeous room. I'm so happy to finally see a "peek" into that room. Totally off topic, but what type of wood doors do you have, and do you know the stain color? They are lovely! :O) Okay, I don't think the tx on the wall looks bad, I'm just not loving the heavy gold color. Did you mix it with a glaze to "thin" it out, or is this a solid gold color? I agree with those who suggested you wash a dark glaze of some kind over the gold. If it still doesn't look good, you could then rip it all off. I think it just looks like it is missing the final step. I personally really love the rough texture in that room. It's very masculine, and I can see why your dh wanted you to try it. If you haven't torn it all off already, try a dark glaze, maybe almost towards a walnut color. Then see what you think. Don't give up yet. This is an awesome tx. It just needs a bit more tweaking to get it to "stunning" stage. :O) It's not really the same look, but similar feel to what I did in our entry/dining of our CA house. I had HD tint a big bucket of joint compound and slapped it up on my walls in random, thick patten. When it dried, I sealed it with a sealer. When that dried, I used Ralph Lauren's smoke stain and tobacco stain to wash the walls. It looks awesome. Every single person that comes to our house compliments the walls. They are masculine in a way, and very sexy!! You might consider a tx like that if this bag look doesn't win you over. Let us know what you decide. I know whatever you do, it's going to look great in the end....See MoreNeed help updating my home
Comments (1)I don't see a cedar garage door and front door with the red brown roof. You are going to have a lot of colors on this house....See MoreI need help on updating my front landscaping.
Comments (5)I agree that your front landscape doesn’t look bad - it’s very neat & manicured but as one who likes gardens, I agree it could use some personality. Will you tell us where you live - at least State, nearest large city & planting zone? And, what direction does the front of your home face? Sun exposure is the question. I think general rule for roses is 6 hours of sun daily. Even without any of that info, I have two immediate thoughts. The shrubs (juniper?) on both sides of the steps is too overgrown & encroaching too much on steps. The other though is about that area of grass to right of steps with the lamp post - that must be hard to mow with that slope! My first impulse is to remove the grass & turn it into a planting bed & perhaps terrace it also - depend depending on amount of slope. What kind of tree is that in the lawn? Are some of the branches over the sidewalk or is that just angle of picture?...See MoreI need help to update my 90’s McMansion. Paint only- no architectural.
Comments (9)You have to powerwash before you paint anyway, so see how it looks after that, before painting. I agree with the idea of a creamy white without any differentiation on the quoins. If you go with a dark color it's going to look dreary....See MoreSusan E
