DH is so funny!

DH came into the kitchen a little while ago singing S'wonderful, S'marvelous at the top of his lungs, the tune all over the place, making up spontaneous lyrics. He is a fine singer - he was just doing this for my entertainment. I said, "honey, please make up your mind what key you're singing in." He grinned at me and said, "I'm singing in the key of ME!" He's such a monkey. Anyone have any fun DH/DW/SO stories? (now that I've learned how to start a thread there's no stopping me)

I have probably shared this before, because it just cracked me up. It still does.

Husband does the grocery shopping. Carrots were on the list. He brought home a huge 3 lb bag of carrots! I am thinking to myself, "How am I going to use all these?"

I looked at him and asked, "Do you like carrot salad?"

He looked back at me and said, "I don't like carrots!"

In over 35 years together he has never, ever, mentioned that he did not like carrots. And I put them in almost everything, i.e, soups, stews, salads, stir-fries ...

I said, "Then why do you eat them?"

His reply, "Because you put them in front of me."

I laughed so hard. (And, yes, I still cook with carrots. And he still eats them.) LOL

My late husband was very funny, too, but I have a story about how trusting he was, and what a great sport. One time, after a spring shower, I was standing under my favorite tree, enjoying the fresh air. As I saw him heading toward me, I started looking up in the tree. When he was close, I said, "Oh, look at this!"

As he stepped in to see what interesting thing I had discovered, I stepped as far from the canopy as I could, and gave the branch above a good shake. He got a shower, and of course, he grabbed me in a bear hug, to spread the fun.

Glad I'm not the only one married to a Mr Oblivious. LOL My DH never minded me collecting all my greyhound/whippet statues but he wouldn't buy them for me. I use to sell crafts and buy them. One Christmas season, he was out shopping alone and saw a greyhound statue and decided to surprise me with it. But because I had so many, he first came home and looked thru ALL mine. Now hearing this story from him later had me laughing my head off. The one he wanted to buy was a large statue, about 2 FT high. In his determination to be sure I didn't have this one, he looked in all the rooms of the house and in all my china cabinets. Now why he thought a 2 ft high statue would fit in a cabinet is beyond me, but he didn't want to miss a thing he said. Not seeing this statue in my collection, he bought it and presented it to me on Xmas Eve. He was so proud of himself and was telling me the story, when he suddenly said "WHEN did you get THAT statue" as he spied the SAME one he'd bought. Well, I had bought it 2 or 3 YEARS before, and the funny part is....this was the ONE statue in my huge collection he should have noticed. It sat on the fireplace hearth, right by the TV, that he could see every evening! The idea of him going thru the whole house while it was right in front of him all this time had me laughing so hard. I still have both statues, LOL. And it meant the world to me that he actually wanted to surprise me with a dog statue. Unfortunately that is the LAST time he tried doing that. Darn. My husband, 2-year old daughter, and I, were sitting behind this guy at a religious meeting, so after the final prayer, I introduced myself and welcomed him. He was with some friends of ours and it turned out that he had just met them the week before. He had been traveling with his wife and small daughter to move to another state, when a drunk driver hit them head on in the desert fog. His truck was totalled. The baby was in a car seat and was fine. His wife suffered many serious injuries and was taken to our local hospital. That's how he came to meet my friend, who had been called when people of our same religion had requested help at the hospital. Well, anyway....he was thin and stressed and trying to figure out what to do. There was no instant connection--no attraction. I invited him to dinner with us, but he declined. As it worked out eventually, the wife was air-lifted to a hospital in the city where her parents lived, where my (DH) was moving. Because of the wreck, the ensuing lawsuit against the drunken woman who had just chalked up her 4th accident while DUI, and both vehicles totalled, DH lost the job transfer to the new state. A few months later, he was back at my meeting. He had to return to fight the legal battle in person, so got a job in my town. His wife, on finding out that she was getting a nice sum as a settlement for her injuries, decided to stay with her parents, keep their daughter, and divorce him. Within another year or so, I found myself divorced about the same time his divorce was finalizing. I moved into a room for rent as a temporary measure while saving to move to California. He was renting another room in the same house. Somehow...some way.....without ANY prior notice of each other in the preceding 2 years, we became friends. A few months later.....we both moved out of the house...and into our own place as husband and wife! One of the things we both thought was funny as we began dating, was finding out that he thought I was nice to show a concern for him but he never gave me another thought. I felt bad for his situation, but he seemed to have no real personality. Until we started to really talk while living with the family that owned the house, neither had much opinion of the other. Red

You are absolutely right. There are some ugly pictures and even uglier word-pictures on parts of Craigslist. But it's just like using the internet. Sure, you can accidentally google something that has double meaning and get a porn site instead of an answer to a reasonable question. But most of the time, you get porn and garbage when you are looking for it, not when you're looking on Allrecipes.com or Thepioneerwoman.com or Amazon.com. Same thing with CL. If you go to items for sale and input Furniture, you are Rarely going to see anything more disgusting than a 30 year old sofa with poodle stains. If you decide to venture into 'best of Craigslist' or the personals............well, then, we're talking some serious "I don't wanna go there!" Just use good judgment. Red

Skibby, my DH is a fine singer also. He often breaks into his ‘Elvis’ routine for fun. Cracks me up. He enjoys those Doo-wop shows on PBS and they have been running one of those lately, so he DVR’d and has been singing along, much to my enjoyment. He really does still have it and can rally sing the socks off those songs!

My DH used to say funny food things that would both amuse and annoy the kids. He would hand them a bowl of carrots and tell them to carrot it to the table. Squash the talk. Or say lettuce pray (we didn't say grace). Orange ya glad we aren't having apples? Olive for good food like this!

He could really get on a roll sometimes and that's when it would get annoying. lol

Well, the time when the mister decided to reenact that one scene from “Risky Business” wearing socks, boxers and a shirt, but when he tried to do the slide in he kept sliding, till he crashed into a bunch of boxes and the laundry baskets...that one was an amusing moment. Maybe I should have mentioned to him that I just washed/cleaned the floor...

DH can't carry a tune in a 10 gallon hat. But he likes to sing in church. Christmas Eve he will belt out the traditional hymns. He says "well it DOES say to make a joyful noise!"

My DH and I both like to think we are quite funny. At least we like to laugh at our own jokes while the other gives a long stare LOLOLOL!

We were grocery shopping right after getting sticker shock about the cost of having our roof fixed. The company said it was something DH could likely patch himself to give us another season or so, but he is not that type of guy so we decided to go ahead and have the full replacement done and get it over with.

So here we are shopping and DH decides to pick up a bag of frozen perogies. He mused "Gee, I wish I married a Polish girl who knew how to make perogies". Mind you, I used to make them from scratch all the time but life has gotten busy, and issues with my hands make it hard to peel potatoes.

Without missing a beat I said "I know what you mean. I should have married a roofer".

My DH cracks me up all the time. I often tell him it's what keeps us together when times are tough. He will pull his lounge pants way up to his chest and kick his feet straight out singing the lolli-pops kids tune from the Wizard of Oz....I am chuckling out loud just thinking of it. Of course, our grandkids just roll their eyes & shake their heads, ha!

We laugh together as well. I'll think something, and say something different (the wrong word, etc). He knows what I'm trying to say and ask if that's what I meant. He then tells me it's good that he can read my mind, or knows me long enough that he knows what I meant.

He loves playing the 'sick card' at times that suits him.

I carry the heavy groceries, and he gets the light bags. He says "I'm sick" in a little boy's voice every chance he gets. We both laugh at him. (he has bone cancer)
