I just purchased the Thermador columns to be installed next week. I went with the 30 inch fridg and 18 inch freezer ( i have a stand alone freezer in the laundry room) and the price was 8500., 48" viking was 8000 and sub zero was 10200. So I think they are more in line with the sub zero than the jenn air although I didn't price the Jenn air. The Bosch version of the columns is about 1500 cheaper than the subzero - the only difference was the elevator shelf. We would have gone with Bosch but the Thermador had a buy 2 get free dishwasher and we were getting other thermador pieces.

How old is the piping? If it's steam, safe bet it's well more than 50 years.... Having just replaced some steel piping from the furnace (hydronic system) that's as old as the house (75 yo), steel fittings give up the ghost grudgingly, if at all. I had to use a Sawzall to remove a reducing tee when a 2' pipe wrench, a 4' cheater bar and lots of penetrant couldn't. Is a working furnace a good enough gift to the wife for Christmas? ;-) Cheers

Okay, so now should I be switching my faucet to oil rubbed bronze as well, or am I starting down a slippery slope that has no end except misery??? LOL. I just cancelled my Classic Brass order - they had still not contacted My Knobs to address the shipping issue - and I ordered the Top Knobs Oil Rubbed Bronze cup pull and round knob. I really hope this is the right thing to do. I have the Satin Nickel Kohler Vinatta faucet, plus all my appliances are stainless. The appliances have accents, though, that are black, so I'm hoping that the knobs will pull from that. My island is also a brandy color with black accents. The faucet will match the appliances and the light fixture (which is mostly cut glass, but a little rim piece on the light fixture is satin nickel). I guess if I've made a mistake I just order different knobs. There are worse things than a $400 mistake, right???? LOL!

New roofs, ugh! Sounds awful. I'm sorry to hear that. They're not giving a timeline. It was first stated to be a week+ . The most recent update didn't say at all. They're moving pretty fast all things considered. We made a grocery store run yesterday, and there were so many piles of trees, yards with downed trees, crews chopping trees, but nothing in the streets, and all traffic lights were working. My brother is in an essential occupation and he says there were no working lights going to work, all were back on going home. I commend NES.
