anybody else have a new dishwasher that stays wet inside?
Comments (151)As others have said, a drying agent, like Jet Dry or Rinse-Aid, is a must. Running the hot water in your sink before starting the dishwasher so that hot water is in the pipes as the dishwasher begins to fill. Finally, cracking open the door once the drying cycle is complete helps as well so that the steam can escape. I've had a Miele since 2015 and, at the time after reading reviews, the reason I purchased it was because it automatically cracks open the door at the end of the drying cycle. I've never had any drying issues with it. At the time it was the only dishwasher that opened the door automatically but I believe more brands do that now....See Morestainless or brushed or something else?
Comments (7)I also agree that chrome is timeless but it also depends on the faucet. Our last reno I had a vintage looking kitchen - in that it had hard wood floors, white cabs, black counters. And was in an old home. Since we did stainless appliances, we did brushed nickel hardware, thinking that was best. The faucet was stainless looking but it was modern - functional instead of for aesthetics. And it looked really good. But had we done a more vintage faucet, like a bridge or gooseneck, then we definitely would have done chrome. this kitchen is similar - creamy white cabs, soapstone, stainless appliances. but we're doing the faucet in chrome b/c it's a bridge and i thought it would look better. I also agree that ORB will likely be dated soon, but I wasn't ever that crazy about it anyway, so that might be a personal view. I was considering bronze for my hardware but reconsidered. (now down to black or pewter. Ugh. STILL can't decide.) Ok that was rambly LOL but what I'm trying to say is that you can totally do a stainless faucet - we did it in our previous reno and it looked great. The appliances were modern (because they weren't vintage looking repos) and so it blended with those....See MoreAppliance color choice for new home Stainless or Oiled Bronze?
Comments (21)In person, the ORB is a pretty yucky look. It looks like someone (badly) painted a tinted clearcoat over stainless. It smacked of "shadetree DIY painting" to me, as in, "Hey, lets see if we can paint a refrigerator that there oil rubbed bronze!" And I wouldn't take a JennAir appliance if you were to give it to me. They've had major issues with poor design and repairs, and since Whirpool acquired the brand 3 years ago, it's been the redheaded stepchild of the Maytag/Whirlpool consolidation. They just ddidn't know what to do with it. Now, they're trying to position Jennair as being above KitchenAid in quality and more "exclusive"---but they're gonna let Sears of all places carry it. Schizoid marketing. And, the thing is, the Jennair branded merchandise comes off the same assembly line as the Maytag or Amana, or even Magic Chef, and underneath that pricy logo, it really isn't any different than one of the Magic Chef's. But, the logo has a premium, and that premium is so not worth it....See MoreWhat did you almost forget? Buying everything else this week!
Comments (28)Thanks, Olivertwist. My understanding is like gpraceman, the goal is to funnel small leaks/drips out where they can be seen and addressed quickly. I would hope that means for most of us within a day or two. Same with the DW. Those small leaks can cause a lot of damage over time because you don't know they are there. I do cringe at directing things onto the new floor though. Still haven't decided. DW is easier, either way the floor gets wet, just if I can see it it will be fixed sooner! Those trays are darn hard to find though. Of course if you have a major leak no tray is going to help....See MorePhobie Privett
