Help with selecting traditional dining room furniture
Comments (6)Even if my budget was $20k, I would go w/ something used. New furniture is just not well constructed and I am not a fan of the finishes either. There are so many wonderful "finds" out there. I would be open to something that needs work OR has already been redone. Being an antique/vintage lover, I would advise that you get the table and chairs at the same place - that way you've not fallen in love/acquired a table and then have to find chairs that are the correct height and comfy. Buy both at the same time....See MoreNon- traditional traditional dining room paint color help
Comments (15)Thank you all for the thoughts. I really like the idea of the gray, and the blues. Neither of which I had on my radar. It just helps me think outside the box, so when I finally decide on something it will really be what I like since I went through all the options. Gray is especially appealing to me. I do not have it anywhere else. I am wondering if it looks good though because of how it is everywhere right now?...See MoreTraditional Chinese dining table in a modern house. Possible?
Comments (9)We have a colonial house with some danish modern furniture plus Persian rugs and a french 18th-century table, modern and traditional art. I like it because it doesn't look like it was bought at any one store. You can totally mix looks and honor history. I like the other suggestion of reducing the number of chairs (just bring them out when you need them) and modern pads and fabric. I would keep the table, put some color on the wall, and maybe an oil painting. If you do travel photos, maybe do a few really large ones vs. a lot of little ones. And make sure they are really classy, not just shots of grinning people. More formal art will help balance the formal table. And the wall could be darker to complement the wood (warm yellow (BM Country Comfort) or goldish?). My living room is BM peau de soie which looks pretty nice without being overwhelming (dove white trim)....See MoreI'm looking for ideas of craft storage in a traditional dining room
Comments (2)I would have her store them in her room, sorted in bins for each craft. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/trofast-storage-combination-with-boxes-white-turquoise-s49329468/ I use these. Originally I had the rack, now use them on shelves in the closet. They come in different sizes. I have about a dozen of them, each for a different supply: edging lace, insertion lace, embroidery floss, Swiss embroidery, UFOs, etc. The lids keep the dust out. That way, she can pull the bin she needs for a project. The rest stay neatly stored away, so the dining table can be ready in minutes....See Morebailey183913
