Need help pulling together the details
Comments (2)Thanks Live Wire Oak. I actually have been using a designer to help me with a lot of my choices. So far, I've been really happy with her suggestions. She is going with me tomorrow with my paint samples to look at slabs. I was really just asking Gardenweb because I consider Gardenweb the authority on all things related to white kitchens. I know that so many of you have them and would be able to give real practical advice. I may just come back tomorrow with the designer's opinions and see if people here agree. :)...See MoreNeed help pulling living room together
Comments (17)Fantastic clock! I agree w/ grandmaof3 - add a throw to your sofa. I politely throw in my suggestion about using 2 spa blue (or close to your chair color) throw pillows to your sofa in addition to 2 patterened throw pillows that contain the spa blue like that middle fabric that you posted. I think that adding blue to the sofa will actually 'tone down', 'incorporate' and 'lessen' the impact of the red and here's why: it's pulling the color from the presence of the chairs and thereby balancing the room. You have the solid spa blue to pull that color directly across, the addition of pattern that incorporates a reddish color to now blend the 2 colors together. I would layer the solid blue in the corners of the sofa then add the patterned pillow next working inwards. If you could stand 1 more pillow just for 'show' maybe add a small lumbar or boudoir sized pillow right in the middle. Great place - have fun!...See MoreNeed help pulling my living room together
Comments (28)I'm most competent guessing what I'd do with a space, which is my pleasure on these forums. I like small rooms better than too large, and I love the idea of all the living you do in there.. I also love blue, and easy to imagine that's the direction I'd go. I notice yours has a lot of dark stuff around willy nilly, contrasting with the light walls -- black chair, mirror frame, a lot of wood trim, black TV, wood pieces, and so on. Assuming I was keeping it all, and adjacent spaces would allow, I'd take the walls darker, to a medium tone at least. That's the opposite direction of most suggestions, but it would encourage all those currently high-contrast darks to blend at least somewhat into the background. That'd make the room feel larger and provide a better, calmer background for our things we love around us and all our living. Less contrast would mostly fix any off-center FP issue. And it would allow me to deliberately introduce accents that do contrast, including whites, of the exact kinds of pieces and colors in the nice places I wanted attention to go. I could also very happily go the direction of Manon's gorgeous collage with light walls, but I think it'd require significant editing to lighten up much what you already have. Otoh, with something like a muted tone of that beautiful blue for the walls?...See MoreHelp! Tween daughter needs lamps, decor to pull room together
Comments (27)Just wondering if bed would go on wall where dressers are and either tall boy or dresser with mirror placed between windows. Is there another wall for the second piece? Would she like a wall hanging and there are tutorials on line as well as lots of combinations. Gives her something interesting to work on, inexpensive and she will have made a contribution to her room. Somewhat whimsical and given the lights around ceiling, thought she might like the idea In regards to lamps, think about complimentary vs the same andTarget has these cute ones at good prices....See MoreVicky
