Need help pulling living room together
Comments (17)Fantastic clock! I agree w/ grandmaof3 - add a throw to your sofa. I politely throw in my suggestion about using 2 spa blue (or close to your chair color) throw pillows to your sofa in addition to 2 patterened throw pillows that contain the spa blue like that middle fabric that you posted. I think that adding blue to the sofa will actually 'tone down', 'incorporate' and 'lessen' the impact of the red and here's why: it's pulling the color from the presence of the chairs and thereby balancing the room. You have the solid spa blue to pull that color directly across, the addition of pattern that incorporates a reddish color to now blend the 2 colors together. I would layer the solid blue in the corners of the sofa then add the patterned pillow next working inwards. If you could stand 1 more pillow just for 'show' maybe add a small lumbar or boudoir sized pillow right in the middle. Great place - have fun!...See MoreHelp me pull this living room together
Comments (55)Thanks Flo! I moved the painting 2 times and had to patch up wall so gave up with 2nd time but will move again. I wasnt putting holes down enough. I realized after that the reason to hang low is so the painting is a continuation of the couch, I didn't realize that was why it should be so close to couch. So for couch it looks like I have the same as the picture you posted. The only difference is this rug has the blue side pattern bigger on one side than the other ( I found that odd). So are you saying put flip the rug around so that bigger blue pattern is on the end on the corner where we walk past? Here is a pic with same angle. Also please help with pillows, that's my biggest struggle!...See MorePlease help me pull this room together.
Comments (73)Sharon - Make yourself a mood board (like the example @Jodie Teeters made for you, up above). Put on the pics of your room and then the artwork you are considering. Seeing it all up against each other will help you decide whether of not you will like it. I just used Microsoft word (make sure you click on each picture and choose "wrap text" as square so you can overlap them). I like the red bird because it pulls the red tones in your space but has a color for up against your white walls, but it might be one color too much. The peacock looks a bit glam and sort in keeping with funky zebra chairs, but still has some brown to coordinate with the couch. The white pictures have some nice movement etc but with no frame it will blend into the wall too much - for those I would paint the edges of the canvas with a matte black. The little yellow bird is crisp and has black and white and cream, but I'm not so sure about the yellow. Play around with it and find what speaks to you......See MoreNeed help with living room/dining room paint and decor
Comments (29)Yes, arrangement looks much better!! If you are anxious to paint, you could roll out the Natural Wicker, as you are going to need a primer anyway over that deep paint. Won't hurt to use is as basically a primer. I can't really recommend a paint until you are finished with the room. Your next step will be chairs, lamps, end tables, lamps (I would get a nesting coffee table or oval), art and drapes (which are too short)....See MoreElle
