Ceiling treatment options - feedback requests - long (sorry)

Hi all

Would like you to weigh in on some ideas for my "ceiling" treatment. There are several rooms in the house that will have 8.5' ceilings - I have included where the ceilings will be - sorry for the hard to see scan - I can't find the shaded PDF that would be easier to read.

The plan is for a suspended ceiling so that I can have some linear lights, and use multi-directional HVAC outlets OR the long linear ones. I also don't want to "build" something particularly heavy with framing etc and want the flexibility of the suspended ceiling. Since the ceiling isn't structural, it'd be a waste to invest too much in structure.

I had originally thought about the click and lock ceilings that attach BELOW the grid system, but they are too hard and I could use some sound absorption.

I am considering the standard 2x2 grid, with the narrower T (9/16" vs 15/16") with either the Optima or the Ultima and "tegular" which has the tile drop below the grid and give some shadow / reveal. One is a square edge, one beveled - not 100% sure it makes a difference. (Thoughts?)

Thoughts on a larger grid? 2x4?

And finally - thoughts on a grid? You can get a more architectural frame design - but kinda thinking that with the tegular tile, the fussiness of the fancy grid would be overkill. But open to suggestions... do kinda like the one with the slot - but know that is going to drive a much higher standard of installation.
