Looking for light fixture recommendations

I am looking for recommendations as to what I should do to update the main light in our kitchen. I was thinking track lighting, but not sure if it would conflict with the style of the mason jar light fixture that my husband and I made. What would be a complimentary solution?

Hey - to help you make the decision, ask yourself this - when you walk into the room, do you feel you would like it to be much more illuminated? Would you like to have a little bling up there on the ceiling? If so, then a ceiling fixture would be the way to go. If you feel the functions of the room do not require brighter, full room illumination, then go with the floor lamp decoenthusiast suggested above. Also, you could just get a floor lamp, which you can easily return, and test it out. It is less of a production than hiring an electrician. Having said all that, I personally could not live in a living room without overhead lighting! It is a very personal preference. Hope this helps you to clarify. Best.

If it were my home this is what I would do. Leave the OTR microwave unless you just hate it. In my opinion, I would rather have that then one sitting on a counter. A budget friendly option would be to take out the fan and put the lighting fixture over the table there. I think the layout dictates the table to be there with the playroom to be used as a seating area. I cannot tell without measurements but it looks like if you didn't have a table it would just be an open area without much function. I would put a nice chandelier over the table where it is and add pendants over the island. You will need to have an electrician look at the island to see what can be added. Keep in mind its pretty hard to fill a recessed can hole without needing to patch and repaint the ceiling to blend. You may be able to switch out the cans for the pendants but its hard to tell the positioning on the island because of the angles of the pictures. I love the below pendants they are affordable, come in different finishes and are visually not obstructive.

I think a triple light is too much. 9 lightbulbs? you could land a plane in there! go w/a double light fixture. 6 bulbs is plenty. any chance of removing that huge mirror, doing two separate mirrors, and installing sconce lighting ? (these are pendants, but sconces would give the same look) lighting like this is so much better for doing make up or something like this?
