I just wanted to report back that I chose the Martha Stewart Spun Sugar. It is an absolutely fabulous color that is warm and vibrant, yet not overpowering. It is a great color that is picking up the gold in my Uba Tuba counter tops and is a nice compliment to the Laura Ashley Olive #4 in an adjoining room. I'd plan to post pics as soon as my rooms are back together.

I'm going to bug you again about your other corner cab. I don't see much in that cabinet. It looks like decorative dishes. You could run shelves in place of that cabinet too. Now your window is wide open and your main prep area between sink and stove no longer has that hulking box overhead. You could stop there, but I'd change the cabinets on that wall. You could add 12-15" matching cabinets on the sides of the MW hood. I did a price check at Barker Cabinets. A 12"w x 30"h Shaker cabinet in paint grade alder with MDF center panel is $132. End panels, which you'll need two of, are $60. The two door hood cabinet is $217. They do have the contemporary hood cabinet that flips up, but they don't have the hinges that hold it open, but that style would be cool for your kitchen. Or you could get oak cabs to match the lowers and gel stain them. You might get by with just one new 12" upper cabinet and new doors to match the other uppers in that case. You would have to pay shipping from Oregon, so you may find a closer place like Scherr's or Conestoga Cabinets. All make high quality cabinets and doors. Or try a local cabinet maker. IMO it's a small investment for a big impact.

You definitely need some color, personally whites, creams and anything in the brown family is drab. Try a matte mossy green, or light olive tone. The lighter greens go well with your trim, add color, and a welcoming feel.

This is my wood kitchens idea book with both new and refreshed wood kitchens. Keep your particular wood tone in mind when looking at pics, but most of these are warm toned. I have an oak kitchen and cream walls. Sage works well. Cool grays don't usually work, but warm grays - which often have a green or beige under tone can work well or very light gray/whites. In my home I have a traditional natural oak floor. It is not "on trend" but as it is in homes over a hundred years old and still used today - more timeless. Hickory flooring can be very pretty, but it has a lot of movement and color variations which might not work well with the oak cabinets. I refreshed my oak kitchen with new counters, apron front sink, backsplash and under cabinet lighting. I am very pleased with the results, but the under cabinet lighting was my most functional change and the one I would miss the most if taken away. I only have it between the sink and range, but it adds much needed light and brightens the kitchen.
