MIx white appliances with stainless steel?
Comments (3)This might be a good time to look into getting a panelled DW to match your cupboards. someone a few weeks ago found a MW that was SS with white. Can the trash compactor be panelled also? I have white appliances, but everything on the counter is SS. Toaster oven, coffee makers, faucets, etc. Is your MW going to be built in, over the stove, on the counter...?...See MoreSigh. DH likes the old white appliances better!
Comments (24)I happen to love it, so to me, it looks good with your cabs. It is actually retro looking to me, but they market it as modern.... Your kitchen does not read particularly traditional to me. I see it more as transitional. The ss appliances make it more modern than it had been prior. We had been trying to find a pattern that was old style and would look good with the chrome edgebanding. We were hoping for something vintage looking that did not have boomerangs. I ordered other patterns from Nevamar and had 1 more free one to add on, so I put in for the MG. When they arrived it jumped out at me as just what we'd want and surprised the heck out of me. We ended up with Corian because Ikea did not carry Nevamar and was runninga40% sale on counters if you order their cabs. Dh saw a display and the rest. I still want to get the MG when we re-do our table's top as I still have a thing for it, lol. In any case, it is different than the laminates that try to look like granite or stone. Looking at your pix, it prob would not go with the paint color, now that I see it in your kitchen. It would make the stainless work with your other elements though. It would darken your counters but not by much. The first pic with the lines across is how I would imagine it. For your other choices, I think the one your dh picked is very nice and if you did the darker one of your choices with it, it could work to make you both happy. I don't think you would need to use a second pattern, unless it was to make both spouses happy. FWIW, none of your choices work with the paint color either. Once you go with grays, that kind of makes them go less with the wall. It would not be bad to leave it with any of the choices, but it also would not be ideal....See MoreBest 30" gas range with double ovens? Stainless or white?
Comments (1)It would help to see some pictures, but I think upgrading to SS would be nice. SS has a more updated feeling, is a neutral, and is a big draw to buyers if you ever sell. As for replacing the other appliances, I think it's okay to keep your old white ones and just replace with SS as they die....See MoreAny stainless steel kitchen sink haters changed mind & now like it?
Comments (34)Yes, silverlined, I don't want to spend the money that people put into the very high end sinks. But, I am definitely willing to spend more than the typical sink costs. This is a small, condo townhouse kitchen and not a huge family house. I know what the place can carry as far as investment into the kitchen. I appreciate all of the very diverse comments and am now at the point where I have decided some of the function over form advocates are perhaps correct. I will (probably) go with whatever material comes in the sink configuration I want--another huge dilemma because I don't just want a standard single basin sink and am instead looking for a drainboard or a work station configuration that is less than $1000. Thanks all....See Morewacokid
