How should I brighten up my kitchen? Part 2
Comments (16)I looked back over your pics this morning with pleasure, and I just thought of something. Can the light over the island be lowered? More light on the front of the cabinets would really make the room feel lighter. Can't tell from the pics if dropping the light puts it in the way or not. The chandelier style is the problem--there is so much metal below the bulbs that getting the bulbs where you would like them just may not work. Not a big project if it will help....See MoreHow high off the kitchen countertop should the light switches be?
Comments (5)Hi Lucylu, I'm not sure if there is a standard height or not. My light switches are about 6 3/4" from the counter. My GC turned my outlets sideways and dropped them down to the counter, so they would be somewhat hidden and not detract from the backsplash. They are mounted only about a 1/4 inch from the counter. I really like them. No cords showing from the coffee maker or cell phone chargers....See Morehow high should I put my hood - please help
Comments (3)My hood is 30" off the cooking surface. I have standard height cabinets. My hood is 24" deep over 25.5" deep counters (standard depth of 24" deep cabinets w/1.5" counter overhang). Our family ranges in height from 5'10" to 6'5" (and still growing). None of us bump our heads on our hood....See MoreHow high can/should I hang my ceiling mounted rain shower head?

My thinking is that the water ”uses up” some of the kinetic energy it gained from being under pressure in the pipe in the effort to spread out in the 12” diameter rain head. I don’t think having the water in the pipe until it is closer to your head matters much for pressure. In cold weather, though, I think that it does have a noticeable influence on the temperature of the water that hits your body. I might seriously consider a longer down pipe....See MoreKendrah
