Is there a coffee table we can’t see? Maybe a pair of small “bunching” tables would work.

Saypoint, no i do not have a coffee table, because right in front of the sofa, on the opposite wall i have an entryway table, it is a small living room, so i think a coffee table will crowd the space.

Entryway table, that is why i didnt put a coffee table.

I think the floor lamp and drum table will be perfect. I suggest the light be placed in the dark corner, but it will probably work in either location.

Get rid of the basket then youcould add a small table which IMO you need for at least a spot to put a drink and a lamp.I am trying to figure waht the purpose of this space is.

HI Marian. Think "function" and form will follow. In an ideal world, every chair should have a light and a table.

So, I would add an end table to each end of the sofa and add table lamps to both end tables. For the chair, since there is not much room, I'd add a c-table to the staircase side.

I'd remove:

plant, basket on floor, and I'd reduce the # of pillows on both the sofa and the chair.

Could we see more photos? There might be further recommendations. For example, could the chair be squared with its back to the staircase/placed at other end and squared?

Patricia, the space is our "formal" living room, it is the first thing you see when you walk into our house, it is used as a room to just relax, maybe read, have a cup of coffee, we do not watch tv in that room, as we have a family room where we spend most of our time. Now, i do not need any more lamps, as i have a floor lamp right next to the chair and another lamp on the other side of the sofa, let me post a picture.

Marian, thanks for the additional photos. Could you place the sofa along the window and then 2 chairs across from it? I am not liking the chair with its back to the front door.

If you're going to have a cup of coffee, or any kind of drink for that matter, you need a place to put it down, so yes, I would add some kind of small table.

Wow. That feels so much better (the old arrangement). I think the end table you have is fine. You just need 2 end tables and 2 lamps.

I would also recommend removing the table that is in the walkway. I'd put floor to ceiling art work there.

You are not alone. Most people have too many things in a room.

You have a good template of furniture to start with. No need to add a ton of pillows, etc.

It's a nice table, but with the strong pattern in your rug and chair, I wouldn't add yet another pattern. Maybe something more like what Beverly posted would work better?

Hi. You have a beautiful space and I like the furniture you've chosen, but you are asking what is best. So, I think there are too many items in the space, which is making it "work" for someone to sit there.

I think this was your best arrangement. I'd add a coffee table and remove the table from the hall. The hall table is in a walkway.

You mentioned it was a place to sit, relax, maybe have coffee or read. I am thinking of what I'd need to do in order to do that. I think I'd choose the chair. For the chair, I'd need to remove likely both of the pillows. Then, to set my drink down, I'd have to remove the 2 books and the decor items from the side table. Then, if I chose the last picture, I'd have to move the lamp, because it is too far away from me.

You have a unique style and whatever you choose, as long as you like and enjoy it, that is what matters.

Do i leave the tree?

I think the tree is too much and doesn't work in this space.

Beautiful room just the way it is!!!!!! Truthfully, if it were my room I would try and incorporate the smallest table that would fit along the chair side where the floor lamp is -- tho that could be tricky based on lamp size. You definitely need a small table there for a guest to have incase they need to set a drink down.

I agree that #2 or #3 works the best. I think the tree gives you height and airiness. I love your space and hope that all you do is add the table because you find you need one there. Not everyone is a minimalist (I sure am not) and if you are okay with adding something without taking two something "elses" away, then #2 or #3 look great.
