While I agree the beige is quite bland, I don’t see either of those greys working with your kitchen countertops. If you want to stay neutral but brighten it, perhaps you could use the lightest (taupe?) colour in your countertops. BTW, I think your cabinets and countertops look very nice together. As far as using one colour throughout a house, that’s certainly doable but know that it will “read” differently depending on the rooms lighting and exposure. I slowly painted all my rooms a single colour, because we were selling within a two years and, despite having realtors ask me if I was a designer as they toured through, I couldn’t wait to move! Living with it was really monotonous.

Hollybar, I understand your thinking. But I just want to keep things simple and find one neutral color for my entire home. I do have to mention that I just remodeled my master bedroom and changed it from an all-beige look to a modern more fresh look with a SW medium gray color. The outcome was great! But aside from the master bedroom, I do plan stick to one color for the rest of the house. I am ready for a fresh look.

Lyfia, Thanks for your response! Our paint is worn in spots and I do want to do some minimal redecorating....take down my Tuscan style draperies (beautiful but dated) change out gold carpet..add some new colors to my brown living room furniture. I was planning to paint the ceiling white(mostly normal height ceiling)to add some height. I was also planning to paint my trim(baseboards and doors, no crown molding in any room except the two coffered rooms) a low sheen white. My trim now is a mustard color(sounds weird but is actually pretty) I'm trying to the most bang for my buck and not completely redo everything! Guess I need a miracle color:)

This isn't enough information to really help you. There are thousands of gray and earth tone neutrals and we have no idea what colors you have. SW Pure White is generally a safe choice, but I don't know how it will look next to the whites you already have.
