Please help me name this succulent!
Comments (1)Looks like either a crassula or a graptopetalum. The shoots are flower stalks....See MoreMass-Growing Succulents Without Bugs
Comments (8)Watch out with neem, many succulent species are sensitive to it such as Kalanchoe and will result in a heavily damaged plant. Insecticidal soap works but is also phytotoxic. Damage increases with the number of times you spray. Some species are also more sensitive than others. So just be careful with what you use and always follow the label instructions. =) There are no truly 'preventative insecticides' that have no damage to your plant or the environment (systemics). The most important step is identifying your pest to know the right treatment. Commercial growers are not pest-free operations and often discard heavily infested plants. For beneficial insects this is critical because you need to pick the right one. Sometimes host plants are required too. With indoor growing, I'm sure my wife would kill me if I released a nest of parasitic wasps in our home!! Some tips for pest free growing is to have an extremely clean growing area, clean your tools frequently, keep your plants healthy, and quarantine any new plants or affected ones immediately. My own collection is over 100 different succulent species/hybrids and I know many here are growing much more than that!! Eventually you will run into all sorts of pests and it's troublesome for even experienced growers, which is why I created this thread: [https://www.houzz.com/discussions/insecticide-pesticide-insights-dsvw-vd~3742440[(https://www.houzz.com/discussions/insecticide-pesticide-insights-dsvw-vd~3742440) Most people probably don't like openly talking about pests on their plants but I think it's just a part of growing....See MoreHelp me ID my succulents...Name the succulents! Comments (9)Hi Gina, no apologies needed:-) people her will chime in on the IDs, it's not a pain at all, and the list is a little less active because it's JUNE, yay, we are all out in the dirt:-) if you don't get a response soon, try this: repost your photos with numbers and just a short request for ID's. That makes it easier for folks to answer. usually you'll get several responses, with each person just IDing a couple plants, rather than one person doing it all. The numbers help make it easier for several folks to each focus on what they know best....See MoreWhat is this succulent’s name?
Comments (6)The two leaves are goners. In the growing conditions shown, the plant will not survive. Does it even have roots, or is it just a cutting sitting in that purple stuff? I'm sure it was pretty before the two leaves started to fail, but succulents will never do well in such conditions. If you want it to grow and thrive, you can get a small pot with holes in the bottom (plastic or clay). You will need a bag of cactus and succulent mix and a bag of perlite (or pumice) from your nursery. Mix them together 50/50. When you repot, get all the potting mix/purple stuff off the roots, then repot in your plant in new proper mix and don't water for a day or two. When you water, let the water run out the bottom holes, then don't water again until the plant is dry. No "sips" of water. Gradually transition your plant into the brightest light you have. I hope you don't mind all the instructions, but plants sold this way don't last long. It needs help!...See Moreken_adrian Adrian MI cold Z5
