Can anyone help me identify this flower?
Comments (2)Sounds like allium, ornamental onions. The best way to buy them is as bulbs, in the fall. Aren't they fun? Here is a link that might be useful: Allium images...See Morecan anyone identify this plant/flower?? Please.
Comments (8)Poinsettias are sprayed with growth retardants to keep them small. When I first moved to FL, I worked at PanAmerian Plants (Now Ball-PanAm)and helped grow poinsettias. One year, someone mixed the growth retardant wrong and burned the whole crop. The flowers on that one look like a Christmas Rose poinsettia. I've seen them hanging over the top of an 8 foot wall in Plant City. I've never been able to get a store-bought one to survive. It's hard, because it can take them years to grow out of the growth retardant. They're hard to root. You have to "seal" the bottoms with a lighter or by touching it to a hot stovetop (covered with aluminum foil so as not to get the sap on the burner) to stop the sap from flowing out, and they need a lot of humidity. I got one to root once by making a "greenhouse" with a 1-gallon pickle jar over the pot....See MoreCan anyone help me identify this weed please?
Comments (6)Discoqueen - it's an elder bush. Sambucus nigra - a very common self sowing native. You will need to cut it right down and then, if you can't dig out the roots, apply some sort of brush killer to the stumps. Before anyone says, why destroy an edible, these things are native here and sprout all over the place. They are a bit too common and a bit too large to tolerate in our small gardens....See Morecan anyone please help me identify this beauty?

Thank you guys! ==>> its nice to teach.. congrats ... you should have filmed the dance... lol .. take care ... ken ps: you said: I planned on planting it in dirt ... one more lesson .... MEDIA is what goes in a pot ... there is good media.. and not so good media ... mother earth is SOIL ... it does not work well in pots .... media is all about water management ... and soil is usually not manageable in a pot ... DIRT .. as you call it.. is what is all over you and the workspace.. when you are done playing with soil or media ... lol ... when it all boils down ... gardening.. is just an excuse for adults... to play in soil/media ... channeling their inner child ... as you did.. with your dance.. lol ... i am sure.. the peeps here.... can guide you on how to go forward.. in planting your bulb ... and what to plant it in.. and how to do it ......See More- 8 years ago
