Mine is vertical reeded glass similar to Beatrix's...however mine is a really narrow reed. It was more expensive than standard reeded (about $300ish for 4 wall cabinet pieces! I think maybe because it was special order. KraftMaid offers this glass but I needed to just replace my clear glass. It took some researching from my local glass shop, but they finally found some. I love this glass! I'll take pix this weekend and post them. They do a really good job of obscuring the items behind them. Kompy

The lead strips between pieces of stained glass are called "caning". You can get caning in pewter, but truly, lead looks enough like pewter that I doubt anyone could tell the difference visually. Just have your local glass artist arrange ordinary window glass in as many "panes" as you want ant divide them with straight pieces of caning to look like muntins. Then install it in the cabinet doors like regular glass.

Try googling the following - Kokomo glass (Indiana) Wissmach glass (West Virginia) Bullseye glass (Portland, Oregon) SA Bendheim glass (New York/New Jersey and LA) All of these companies will have versions of the "double water glass" that you are looking for. The first three actually make ther own decorative glass and the last one is probably the largest decorative glass importer in the country. They all have showrooms, but I am not sure if all of them sell retail or if so if they will sell on line or by telephone. There are other companies that also sell decorative glass, but I picked these because of location (if you might be colse enough to visit one of them) and because of presence in the decorative glass industry. @BlackChamois, congrats on taking the steps to a beautiful new kitchen! The open shelves are a great idea, and I agree with @babushka about cabinet glass in small spaces: many of the designers we work with (I work for Bendheim glass co.) use it to create a sense of spaciousness and add interest. That being said, it should be balanced. I'd say the ideal spot seems to be in the three cabinets flanking the window (see similar layout in the link with white cabinets), and if you are concerned about clutter, choose an obscuring patterned or etched glass.
