Prayer Plant wilting after transplant!

It's been nearly a week, and there is no change (aside from it getting worse). I always transplant it once a year, this time it's in very bad shape. I've watered it but not over watered it. It doesn't seem to be soaking up any water. Some leaves turned yellow and I cut them off. Please help. Also, when I water it, all the water drains out the bottom as soon as I water it.

I grew these in the ground in Florida, so whatever advice I give is based on that and not as a houseplant. They do go dormant in the winter months. They like lots of water and a good organic mix that will hold some water - i.e. not fast-draining. Dappled sunlight, never direct.

Should I transplant again? After digging in the soil, I noticed it's soggy it won't dry out. The last time I watered was 3 days ago...the soil is drenched and looks like mud. Must have something to do with the peat moss.

30 feet? - well give or take a few - all over my back yard! Maybe I exaggerated a bit - but not too much. Most of my tomatoes are started in yogurt cups, put into plastic shoebox size containers. When I harden them off, they are put outside under a shade tree with another shoebox placed on top (mini-greenhouse). Thank you for your advise. I do have a copper fungicide, but the palms are 19 ft. tall and my ladder and me will not reach them. If I climb with a tall ladder there is a chance that the palm tree will fall. I contacted the nursery yesterday and today and am waiting for their answer. They say they got decades of experience with palms yet they told me to not water them and they did not tell me these are problem palms nor how to treat them. Being unable to reach to inspect the bud (the nursery dd not respond yet whether they will come to inspect them) my only option is to get a refund and let them have these two palms back at their disposal or get them replace them with other palms. I was also suggested by a professor in Florida to not plant Florida palms in SC in spring, but wait until summer. Well, I did not know that and the experienced nursery did not tell me that. The palms cost me about 25% more than could have bought elsewhere. Really not a good deal with this nursery.

thank you digdirt2 and Seysonn.. Damping off! never had it in the garden.. only on seedlings planted in potting soil instead of seed medium. The reason I think it's got something to do with water getting to roots is that all through the rain they were standup and healthy.. next day is clear, and they wilted. Thanks so much everyone! Still trying here.. put a little pellet gypsum in soil and swirled it around. Next, I'm thinking sand....

Peat moss generally isn't good in potting mixes. If the soil is staying soggy/muddy then the plant will be doomed. You've no option other than to get it into a fast draining mix. It's better to water more frequently in a fast draining soil than to water less in a water retentive soil.

I have transplanted it since your comment. I believe it's too late as there's no change. It's so sad because it's around 10 years old or so. Someone else cared for it for 6-7 of those years before it was given to me.
