Getting marble counter and floor tile to work together
Comments (27)enduring: Atlas Concorde makes a great tile. Our tile guy loved working with it. I was going to do the Atlas Concorde Seastone, which is a black tile with white little "fossils" in it. I sent my DH to take a look at it and bring home a sample and he actually swiped the idea for his bathroom remodel (his remodel had to go first because his shower was falling apart!). So now I can't use Seastone, but I thought the Marvel was interesting because it looks like Black Emperador marble and I thought it would look nice with white subway and carrara marble. Here is a picture of part of the floor. It's very reflective so even though it's black it seems lighter than the previous floor which was medium gray....See MoreCultured Marble Bath Counter top Question
Comments (12)Cultured marble is sort of like faux pearls or diamondique.... the name is a bit misleading! It is a blend of resin and marble dust which can be tinted and so varies widely in quality and style. We used it in our house when it was originally built and are now remodeling. The white on our half bath vanity and hall bath still looks okay as far as style. Just a plain white with some minor gray swirling and we'll be keeping it as we work our way through the house remodeling. But our master bath counertop and tub surround is now in the dumpster as it was sort of a taupe color with lots of swirling and was just obviously "fake"....See Moreanyone have pics of OLD white marble counter tops?
Comments (10)lol...i totally want carerra. i would get soapstone if i could. in my last house we remodeled and i got cobra soapstone which was great. i would recommend it to anyone and everyone. our last house was in PA. now we are in florida. i am going to get a cobra sink made and shipped down here but soapstone down here would cost us too much for counters....over $100 more a sq ft than carerra. but carerra is my #2 choice and i love how it looks. but...i cook for reals and i know "patina" is my destiny. but still...i don't know if i am prepared for "the big one!" like an 8" turmeric stain or whatever. on the plus size..the cost here is about $44 a sq ft. it's beautiful. it's natural. it doesn't contain any toxic resins or formaldehyde or radon. i can live with some wabi sabi and if we sell 20 years from now and it looks like crap, i guess we will have to replace it w/new marble to get it ready for the market. who knows! i just want to see some pics ;)...See MoreHelp, my marble tile floor doesn't match my marble slab countertops.
Comments (105)Renee you must be overwhelmed with all of these comments. Your countertops are GORGEOUS, so I do hope you keep them. Sophie's suggestion to stain the floors is well worth looking into. For what it is worth my suggestion for your backsplash is to go with a simple solid tile in a lighter color that coordinates with the countertop. I would suggest you not go too small with the tile- 3x6 to 4x12 would be a good size to stick with. You want to avoid too much movement in the backsplash as the counter (and the floor) have quite a bit of movement and you do not want them competing. Let the countertop be the star of the show. Good luck and let us know how it all ends up for you....See Moreseamama75
