Advice needed on master bath design
Comments (6)Thanks so much for your comments. Right now we will have a towel rack on a wall near the shower (when looking at the shower from the tub it will be on the right hand side) but my guess is we'll have to add a small hook by the shower door to put the towel on when we are actually using the shower. Where the towel rack will be positioned, it's not a walk, just a very long reach!! I thought the same as you that having the two pony walls make the room seem more closed in. My designer thought that having different sections (vanity/tub/shower) would make it more zen like. This is where we are really struggling because we can't find any pictures online with a look like our proposed one (we have only seen one pony wall on one side or no pony wall and just open space on either side). Yes, we do have the flexibility to make the vanity wider or narrorer. And thanks for your thoughts on the mirror. Agree, it would be nice to have the medicine cabinet and I've always had one but never used it for hair styling so I think I'll be okay in that sense....See MoreLooking for advice on walk-in shower for new master bath
Comments (6)Exactly what Live Wire wrote. I'm guessing your floor "tiles" in the drawing are a 1' grid? Referencing your last drawing, you could have the bathroom floor tiles and the tiles in the shower space that are below the 4'11" measurement all flat and in the same plane. The break in the floor where the shower slope starts will be at the end of the sub wall, right on that 4'11" line. A 6'8" stub wall will give you about 3/10ths" of drop per foot of run to get your 2" drop. A 7' wall will shallow it out a bit, a little over 9/32nds" drop per foot of run. Get out your micrometer and your magnifying glass. lol For wheel chair considerations, personally? I'd rather have an extra 4" of width at the shower entry and accept the shallower 6'-8" depth. Water spray really won't be much of an issue with your head 4' away from the threshold. I recommend you use a topical membrane on the shower floor; both on the sloped shower floor and on the "flat" shower floor (total 11' by 5' shower footprint), and also extend the membrane outside the shower door a couple of feet onto the bathroom floor....See Moremaster bathroom remodel - need advice
Comments (6)I don't think of grays going with mustard although I'm not adamantly against it. I think of mustard coordinating with greens and blues, or tans/browns/yellows. I understand budget is limited, sounds like floor/shower/wall paint is getting done now. If you do the gray you like, live with it for a while, and decide you don't like the mustard tile with it, can the mustard be redone without damaging the elements you've already spent money on? If so, go with the grey!...See MoreChoosing a shower panel/tower
Comments (3)I just posted on another thread where the OP was looking at shower fixture options. You might find those comments helpful. The system I referenced (Hansgrohe Radiance, #27112) has the volume/diverter to handheld on the left and the temp control (which we set and leave alone) on the right. It is not inexpensive and it is not a cheap aftermarket but maybe Sophie is referring to something else.
