Comments (16)Thanks everyone! Luckygal, the paint color is Ellen Kennon Sage. I really, really like it. Glad you do too;) We do have a smaller dining room off the front living room, but have considered a table, as lavendar suggested, near the doors.... maybe doubling as a game, project, bigger dining when needed table. We don't actually have that table though - lol. The room might make more sense with it. Jan, I always appreciate your thoughts! I will think about moving some of the other chairs. My hesitation is that the front living room is really our friends and family gathering room, so I was wanting to keep the softer chairs in there. So far, my little family has not used this back room much and I'm hoping to make it more useful. Of course, for a good bit of time it was the box room! Oh, let's see, lavendar, the desk is kind of orangey. I don't want to paint it because it was my grandmothers. I may just need to find another place for it. The hutch could stand painting. My husband and I found it in the trash our first married year and painted it as is:) Funny memories. Hoping I answered everyone's thoughtful replies... Anyhow - here are some more pictures trying out that back corner. Sorry about the blurriness. I think our camera is acting up.... or it could be stress from moving - haha From house plans This isn't exactly right, because I still have the desk behind the loveseat, but it gives an idea:...See MoreOpen concent furniture arrangement with two focal points
Comments (6)Hi, Denise G, That is a toughie ! It’s unfortunate, but a reality that we all want/need to orient our seating to optimize tv viewing . Your fireplace wall is gorgeous , so your desire to not obscure/separate it so much is a good goal as well. This was a head-scratcher - the best plan I could come up with is : get a slightly lower, not as deep, tv console and angle that in the corner up by the left side of the window — look for a slightly curved sofa and float that on an ANGLE opposite the tv corner ( not so much in front of the fireplace, but keeping it as far into the left side of the room , and back , as possible — get two smaller scale chairs ( possibly swivel) - angle one chair where your birdhouse is , put the other where your existing chair is . To soften the view from your stairs you could put a silk or real tree in the wall corner by the railing ( tucked into the corner where your floor lamp is now ) . Lastly, you might consider using either a semi- transparent , very light sea grass shade or plantation shutters on your window to cut down on the tv glare and to soften the room , but that would then possibly lead to doing the same thing in your dining area , which might be more than you had wanted to budget for - maybe an idea for “ down the road “ / phase 2 . I’m sorry I do not yet have the skills/tools to photo shop into the room , but I could draw a rough floor plan and send it if that would help . Best of luck with your beautiful room ,Denise !...See Morehow to turn an awkward exterior door into a focal point interiorly

Comments (7)You need a rug, for sure. I like this one because it has the black, white, gray of the room, plus a hint of the warm floor stain. Also, notice the size of the rug in the inspiration room photo. Suggest a camel tone leather sectional. Actually, I like all of these pieces for your room from Burrow. Is there a reason why you haven't put the t v over the fireplace? The room looks large enough and the mantel low enough to meet measurment requirements for watching in comfort....See More- 6 years ago
