Calling All Capital Precision Range Owners
Comments (33)After owning a capital Precision 60" gas self cleaning range since 2008, I would say, AVOID CAPITAL. I was the biggest capital fan because I thought they had the best and most innovative product. Upon delivery and installation, we were burning everything we put inside one of the ovens. We went back and forth with Capital for months, they sent out repair people who swore there was nothing wrong with the oven. We were even blamed for not letting the oven warm up for enough time before we put our food in. We had to threaten them with legal action before they finally had a proper technician fix our range. As the years progressed, our issues continued. The rotiserrie went out. They sent the parts and I fixed the motor myself. Our grill always heats only the left side. I had a gas leak inside the range and Capital did not respond to my requests for help. I had to get Trevor from Eurostoves involved and then they responded. The absolute worst is they offered to fix my grill and wok burner (useless) for free as long as I paid for shipping both ways. A few days later, they sent an email and said, they were wrong when they told me they would fix it for free and would charge me for the repairs. I AM DONE WITH CAPITAL....See MoreRequesting input from current/past Capital range owners...
Comments (1)amcook - Capital Precisions haven't been around for 4 years. I was one of the first to get one and it was almost 3 years ago. I have a 48" range and I haven't had any real issues with my oven. The small one is not very precise in temp - gets really hot and the only issue I had with the large one is an occasional bang of the oven floor. Re: the tech support, it was fine while under warranty and I'm hopeful they will be helping me out with adjusting the simmers as was mentioned in a previous thread. Hope this helps!...See MoreCapital Precision Range Owners
Comments (4)Interesting, I saw one where that metal bar rotates at the Plumbery in Dublin, CA. When I asked them why it twists, they said that's the way it's supposed to be to lessen the strain on your wrist. I found that a little odd so my next stop was the Capital distributor VAH Marketing in Union City. And sure enough it was stationary. I asked them what was going on, and they said it actually should twist, the one they have is going to be replaced! So then I called Capital customer service, and they said it should be stationary! I said that's funny because that's not what your CA distributor says. They then talked to their techinical team and came back and said either way is fine. I'm like, WHAT?! Then they said they'd research further and get back to me. I'll update this when I hear back. Anyone have one that rotates?...See MoreCapital Culinarian Owners - please comment on grill and hood
Comments (13)Thank you, thank you for all the wonderful feedback. I do want to stick with getting the grill and am going to do so. We probably will be cooking steaks outside most of the year (Jersey Shore), but in the dead of winter (especially like the last one) we would be cooking inside for 3 months or so. I want to grill vegetables, romaine, etc. inside. Two of you mention that you have the Wolf hood. Did you entertain the Best one? I have not priced the Wolf, but based on your comments will look into it. I had thought of Modernaire, Best and now Wolf. I do think I want to go a bit higher than the 1200cfm just because we have had such problems with setting off alarms. I will definitely try seeing how a 27" looks/feels - my hubby is 6'1" and because of his height we have had to scrap buying cute little converible :( so want to make sure he is okay with the height of the hoodt - he is the steak pro at our house! JScout - where do I look up more info regarding make up air. Would it only go on when the fan was on? Where should it be installed, how much, etc.... We keep finding and adding things in $$$$$! But, this is our dream house and we are so looking to doing it the way we want. Again, to all of you who took the time to write in - THANK YOU! Pls let me know any more thought on the air thing and if the brand of the hood makes a difference. Will certainly post once we are in. Ordering cabinets and they are beautiful. Now in the midst of all the appliances ....See Morestavishwatson
