Ideas for my little reading nook
Comments (30)I would utilize the back, smaller wall for the relaxing/reading/dreaming/watching the rain space~oh to be 8 again! Number 1, since she already has a bed in her room why go thru that expense? Number 2, sitting a further distance from the window strikes me as more appealing~hot, cold, glass, isn't a good combination. A crib mattress might be the answer to use on the back wall~the length could work and width shouldn't be a problem at all. Get it off the floor with a box-like structure, or make something like *this* using pallets(you can usually get them free!)I'm all about making things easy. A heavy duty glue/adhesive would secure the mattress/base together. It's such a cute space for a little girl to curl up~this little girl is green with envy! ;o) Here is a link that might be useful: *this*...See MoreDream reading nook anyone?
Comments (24)Once upon a time a large kitchen table where both DH and I could read newspapers over coffee was a top priority for me in any Perfect Home. Absolutely my favorite reading spot for years. DH likes a regular chair, but my side has an extremely comfortable, back-supporting chair. It was my MIL's favorite, and I still have it even if our grown kids still call it "Grandma's Ugly Chair." (A dainty Hepplewhite she had had upholstered in a dirty puke chartreuse popular at one time.) Anyway, any time I'd prefer to just read sitting up, this would still be the place. LOL, Mustangs. Also a luscious vision....See MoreReading nook ottoman advice
Comments (20)Do you have a decent sized foyer? I think that rug and table might be happier as a focal point there. The table is too tall for the chairs and will make a table lamp too tall for a good reader. I would prefer a rectangular rug so the leggy chairs could sit entirely on it and be grounded. I'd remove the more casual tab top curtains. They're a bit bedroomy for this space. Add pair of reading floor lamps in brass right and left of the the chairs. Here are a couple of styles. Put your plant stand and a maidenhair fern between the two chairs....See MoreReading Nook in the Living Room Bay Window
Comments (4)I already have 2 end tables on each side of the room. These tables come handy for putting my computer on them, a phone, etc. I don’t have a sofa yet but I contemplating re-designing my reading and study nook. To lounge is to be a bit more sleepy and I need to be alert for my language study and writing projects....See Morel pinkmountain
