$6,000 Ethan Allen vs. $10,000 Henredon
Comments (16)I was in the Ethan Allen store and was told by a saleswoman that all of Ethan Allen's sofa were 8 way hand tied, including the one I was interested in. I went back on another day to look at the sofa again as it was a top contender, and another salesperson was helping me, this time. She said that it was "not" 8 way hand tied, but sinuous coils or something, and from what has been posted on line about what to look for in a quality sofa, they say sinuous is the cheapest sofa, and not one that would hold up well over the long term. Since we can not actually see the inside of what we purchase, we are counting on the sales person to know what they are talking about. I would have been really miffed if I had paid $3,000 for a cheap, sinuous sofa. When I was in the store yet a third time, I came across the original sales woman. She asked if I had made a decision on the sofa. I said I liked the sofa, but was concerned about the quality in comparison to others I was considering. She again stated that this was a top quality, 8 way hand tied, sofa. I asked if she could show me anything that was in writing that stated that this particular sofa was 8 way hand tied. I mentioned that another salesperson believed it was sinuous. She left for a while and finally came back and said it was sinuous, and still tried to sell me on the quality benefits of a sofa built with sinuous wire. Would it hold up? Who knows? But I do expect sales people at a store the caliber of Ethan Allen to know the products they sell, and to know the difference....See MoreLooking for a sofa w/Crypton fabric. Ideas?
Comments (64)I have a sectional sofa with Crypton fabric in color pumice from American Leather. American Leather has the most amazing sofa bed available on the market. If it wasn't for the need of the sofa bed, I would get rid of it immediately! It does resist stains. And is very east to clean off stains from food, wine etc as advertised. BUT and this is s BIG BUT...It holds on to lint, hair, fuzz, animal hair. It looks dirty all thie time. I have to need to use a lint brush on my sofa almost every day. And vacuum with an apholstery attachment It is soft and comfortable to sit on. But, you can not move /slide on the sofa. Meaning you can not slide or move around in order to get comfortable and/or lie down. It is not a smooth fabric. It catches you. Do not recommed for a family room...See MoreAnyone have a custom made Basset, Henredon or Sherrill sofa?
Comments (41)My mom purchased a new custom sectional, 100% polyester fabric, from Bassett about 6 months ago. No off gassing from day one, very well made and sturdy. It is extremely comfortable and have had many positive compliments regarding the style, comfort, and quality. We would definitely purchase from Bassett again but only through their custom program which is made in the USA. We did not like the quality of their other furniture they had on the showroom floor. It looked cheap like it was made in China. The only problem we incurred was delivery took twice as long as quoted. However, they did not charge her for delivery and gave a nice discount on another purchase she made. Our store was located on in Kennesaw, Ga....See MoreRestoration Hardware look but better quality -- Where is it?
Comments (1)I recently bought the RH quatrefoil iron bed. It looked good online but when it was delivered and I got a good look at it, it was very cheaply made in China junk that was almost $1000 on sale with shipping. The welds were done very poorly and some of the ornamentation was made poorly. I was so disappointed but sat with it for a few weeks and then made a decision to return it. I wrote them a very nice email explaining this was my first purchase from them and how disappointed in the poor quality and I didn't think their company was selling junk made in China. I should have known better when the movers dropped it off, they told me they had to assemble it ahead of time to make sure it fit together right because sometimes they don't. Not only did RH give me my money back plus the shipping cost but also gave me a $100 gift card towards a store purchase. quatrefoil bed...See MoreWellington's Fine Leather Furniture
