Comments (8)I have a huge new tub waiting for install in new master. It can be dropped in or undermounted. I was going to undermount it, but my stone fabricator said it would be very expensive to put stone over the top like Beth's pic above. I can't believe she was trying to talk me out of it. I may use some stone scraps if I have enough left of my vanity top to use on the deck instead of tile with the tub dropped on top. That means four seems, but my deck is small and tile might look odd in such a small space. Beth's tub sure looks great though! I wish I had the space for a deck that big. What color of Ceasarstone is that Beth?...See MoreCarrara Marble Tub Deck Help
Comments (7)Has anyone used the "mini-slabs" of honed marble? We saw one yesterday and thought it would be the perfect compromise. It was called Patera. It comes in every size tile and trim piece, but also in slabs that are 24" X 28" inches. They come with one side already bullnosed, to bullnose another side is $35. They are $115 each, which seems fairly cost effective for our smallish vanity top project. Once we felt the smoothness of that honed marble there was no going back.:)...See Moremarble tub deck - is this typical?
Comments (3)There should be no gouges from the istallation process. There should be no swirls from the finishing of the marble. Do not seal until you have this rectified. Now I can't say how the swirls came about...was it delivered that way? Did the installers junk it up and try to buff out on site? In the end it doesn't matter, get a hold of your GC or whoever is responsible to get it fixed. Repairing the gouges is an "it depends" on how it can be done, and how well the gouges can be hidden. If they are too numerous and any attempted repair will be too obvious, sure, a new slab may be in order. Realize that a repair needs to be two things...it needs to match color/pattern wise, and it needs to match sheen or reflectivity wise. The swirls can be taken out on site by a reputable installer or company....See MoreCreative Ceramic & Marble/ Bill Vincent
