Sliding door with 1 door fixed?
Comments (4)I've lived in several houses with sliding glass doors over the tub, and the tub located right next to the toilet. It's pretty normal. I'm guessing that the shower head is on the same wall as the toilet so the water supply is all in one wall. If you make that a fixed panel, people have to reach a long way to turn on the shower. I think it's safer to have them reach in around the toilet (like they would with a shower curtain), then switch the doors and get into the shower at the foot end. With one fixed panel, you would have to get in, adjust the temp with the tub filler and then switch to the shower function. That said, Pharoah's bling bathroom is breath-taking!...See MoreAntique Setee - Too Fancy for Back Entry Area?
Comments (45)So glad you bought this piece and I like your analogy. I think small solid accent pillows would work but would hide the cutwork. However for comfort they may be necessary. I certainly wouldn't reupholster until that fabric wears out or you tire of it. I think the art works well as that settee might have been in a farmhouse with such a view. I also think that the juxtaposition of the more rustic pic and frame with the formal settee is wonderful and the colors go well with the upholstery fabric, the stained wood, and the walls. The best decorated rooms IMO are those which have the unexpected rather than the 'safe' and sometimes boring choices. I like your choices and look forward to seeing what else you do in your decor. Have the confidence to do what looks right to you....See MoreWiden living room entry before we fix it?
Comments (5)You can likely remove the side jambs and header, as I doubt this is load bearing. The only little problem I can see is that the flooring is unlikely to extend under the side jambs, so you would have to patch in there....See MoreHow would you fix this wrap around porch/ entryway?
Comments (3)None of your windows look to be the style that can handle shutters, so that will save you some money. Let him to the stain job, etc., and you focus on improving the lighting and landscaping. The lantern lights flanking doors need to be 1/3 of the door's height. Are there any lights in the porch ceiling to light all around the house? The ratty looking shrubs by the picnic table need to be removed. Not sure I'd add black to this house. If you decide to paint the house later, you might do the typical white siding and black windows of "modern farmhouse" style if it is still a trend and you like it. A decorative, but not functional, vent in the top of the gable might be ok if you can find one large enough not to be dwarfed by the expanse of wall around it....See MoreJohn
