Thumbs up for Princess Charlene de Monaco
Comments (12)Hmmm. Ok interesting. Thanks! This one is a total water guzzler in my area then. Since this is new to the market....Hot and dry (usually dry) climates beware.... this one may possibly need some protection from a lot of dry heat and may need a lot of water for drought areas. Even with all of our rain in CA... this one is my only rose that has cried out for additional water. Seems as though it's worth it though! Dry climates just may need to find the right spot for this one for it to flourish....See MorePrincess Charlene de Monaco
Comments (1)I saw Princess Charlene de Monaco in bloom at Green Thumb. I bought it for a friend and the perfume of the flowers filled my car as I drove it to her house. It was hard to give away. This isn't the best photo, but maybe you can compare the leaves to your plant. The color of the flower is a pale pink with shades of peach, so I imagine it would fade to cream with age. You very well might have the right rose. For better photos of blooms, look at this thread here:princess-charlene-of-monaco-super-fragrant-rosy-surprise....See MorePrincess Charlene de Monaco bouquet
Comments (8)Absolutely beautiful, Lisa, and the addition of the small blue accent flowers is pure genius. This bouquet could easily be a part of the decor in a glossy interior decoration magazine....See MorePrincess Charlene de Monaco or DA Olivia Rose Austin Rose
Comments (16)I have both and I'm in zone 5, but I can't tell you about hardiness since they're both new roses for me this year. In general, I wouldn't worry about Olivia Rose being hardy in zone 5/6, since it's a rare Austin that doesn't survive that zone. Princess Charlene got my warmer spot of the yard just in case, but she looks like she has a good shot at winter survival. Like others have posted, she's already much bigger than Olivia in her first year. Not the 8' that you get in California, but she might get to chest height in a year or so which for me is really big. She's so far a middle of the bed rose, but not small like Olivia. Like others, I'm no help on fragrance, and Olivia hasn't bloomed in her first year as many of my new roses don't get that far in their first summers.
